Most days at Wolston you can play in the comp, if you play with another AGU member, which in this case is my neighbour, who also has the Gailes cheaply membership.

There were a few opportunities to make good choices and win the match. But the people really don’t want to see good choices they want excitement and drama.

Second comp round in a week playing off the reds. Shame Ferrins missed this one.

Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

The fans want to see someone lose it. They don’t care who wins.

Played Par yesterday and finished Square.
Twas a good result as I was 4 down through 7.

I am hitting the ball tee to green, probably as well as I have for 15 years. With a small swing adjustment, I am a full club longer across the irons and I have picked up about 15 mts off the tee. And yet I'm still arguably the worst single figure handicap putter in Australia.

I had 20 putts on the front 9, back nine was better with 13 though

An opportunity missed for me today. Second last game of the year and I was hoping for a major highlight to put in the end of year report thread. After 12 holes (and two shots on 13) I was compiling the post, as I was even par, 4 up and hitting the ball beautifully. Then a choke of major proportions.

Wipe from 90 metres on 13, struggling bogies on all of the next three holes. I righted the ship with regulation pars on the last two holes for a total of 38 points. My best round for 6 months, but sadly, not the best of the year.

    Maybe that'll happen Wednesday.

The other point of note: on a 130m par 3, my regular Monday playing partner hit 3 iron instead of 8 iron, and flushed it. I've never seen a player attempt a shot from where he was.

    33, 34, 33 the last three days.
I feel like I am close to a good round, but I am also a custard head.

Highlight was three birdies in five holes yesterday.

I've over/under clubbed one club on occasions but 3 to an 8, that's pretty special!

29/12/2020, Wolston Park GC, Blue Tee Stableford.

    Stats: 4/11 fairways, 6/18 greens, 26 putts.
    Score: XPBBPPPBP BPPPbPXBB; 40:36:76 (+5:+4:+9); 16:18:34pts.

Things looked ominous early when I put my drive and the provisional on the first OOB (although both bounced back in), plus the following approach shot OOB also. I still scrapped together some points on the first few holes, thanks to the short game, before I made a swing thought adjustment with my driver, and ended up having my best day with the driver for some time (6/8 effective drives). The round had a good patch in the middle, which included a 6 iron to inside a foot on the par 3 14th, before the iron play completely abandoned me and I limped home.

Next round: ASAP, I need more golf NOW, but probably Thursday realistically.

Last comp round for the year.It was awful for 9 holes, couldn't hold a chip, short putts,a db wipe,I even threw a ball in the water out of frustration.12 points around the front 9,almost jumped in the car to go home.
10th hole, pulled the sh1t out of the driver, went way left, over the next fairway and down towards the drain.130m punch 8 iron up the hill, over the 19th green and drawn off a tree, ball landed 10m short right.Chip and putt for par.Next hole hit a sweet 5 iron on a 195m par 3 slightly left.Bogey.Not sure where the next few holes came from,BPPBB and all of a sudden I am 2 under thru 7 on the back.**** the last 2 holes, ended with 34 points.I hate golf

    33 points at Thaxted today.

    XpXBBpXpp BBppBpXBX

    8 of 14 fairways
    3 greens in reg
    34 putts

Played ok but too many doubles. The finish was disappointing given I hit a great drive on 16 then made double and then lost a ball just off the fairway on 18 leading to a wipe. I also left 4-5 shots out there with poor chipping. The positives were that my game off the tee was ok and putting was better than my stats suggested.

Drove down to Tenterfield this morning from Brisbane, went straight to the golf course for a bit of a muck about hit by myself, ended up with 83 (+12). Fairways and greens stats were pretty rubbish but I scrambled better than usual, and chipping onto greens was going well, especially since the ball just stopped dead most of the time. Highlight was a birdie on the third courtesy of a long downhill putt finding its way into the hole.

There are a few mates from my social club down here as well so I'll be playing more with them over the next couple of days.

Last game of the year, but not one for the end of year highlights.

Well, actually it was, in a very strange way. 32 points ranks nowhere, but zero GIR obviously ranks right at the bottom, and 10 one-putt greens ranks right at the top.

Terrible ball-striking. I just couldn't find the secret swing thought that works, but my short game and short putting were great. Why can't we put ball-striking and putting together on the same day?

    See you all next year.

Maybe I should think my tee time is an hour and fifteen minutes earlier than it actually is all the time.
