Dunno. You’d have to ask a Queenslander.

Great golf Andy. Good to see a scorecard with no doubles or worse.

Greens are good with some bad spot, and a little long to protect them from the heat. Fairways were patchy, and had preferred lies. It rained last night, so I don't know how dusty it might have been otherwise.

Thanks. I managed to not compound errors today, but had a couple of close calls for doubles.

    Good one Andy.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

    Nice round Andy.

My social club game got washed out. I'm playing my first Saturday comp day at Oxley next week, assuming it's not flooded again. First time playing off the blue markers there.

Thanks. The advantage of heading west was that it was outside the rain zone that Brisbane was getting. The disadvantage is that I have another NTP prize (Karana Downs, as well) that I probably won't bother to collect.

    31 points.

7 greens in reg that I only converted into 1 birdie, just not close for the first putt. Only 1 regular fairway hit but most were either missed by not much or rather a lot.

It's doing my head in Loz.

I won A grade a few weeks ago, but seriously should have won it 3 weeks in a row, if not for cold cold blade.

Another good round today, 2nd time playing to par in 3 rounds.

    PbBPPPbbP-PPBPbBBPP 71/41 points

The bogey on 15 was a waste, a good drive followed up by a poor bunker shot and a missed putt (with a very nasty pin position).

My putting has come so far in the last few weeks, with only 1 real change (and practice) - just trying to keep my grip as loose as possible, which seems to help stop me trying to steer the ball with my wrists/hands.

The birdie on 14 was special - ball was above my feet with a downhill lie just off the fairway. I was thinking anything close to the green would be good - then stuck a PW to 2 feet.

    20/12/2020, Jindalee GC, Social.

    Stats: 4/6 fairways, 2/9 greens, 15 putts.
    Score: BBBBBBbPb; 37 (+4).

It was a pretty good ball striking round, with a little bit of consistency with the driver, although not entirely convincing. I just kept missing greens by a little bit, and to the wrong spots, where I couldn't get up and down. Also, the greens had been scarified and sanded, so putting was a bit of pot luck.

The irons couldn't do it, so my first green in regulation was with the driver on the par 4 seventh. Two under in the last three brought the score back to something more representative of how I thought I was going. Nice work to mentally hang in there.

Next round: I'm going to book a comp round at Burleigh for tomorrow, if I can get on. And if I'm feeling keen afterwards, I might play Surfers Paradise too. Let's see how hot it gets.

Stroke round at Royal Thaxted today.
87 off the stick for a net 73.

    pXpBBpBpB BpXBXbBXB

7 of 14 fairways but I never really had control off the tee today.
8 of 18 greens - irons were ok today, my bad shots tended to happen when I extended my backswing a little too far
36 putts - Some work to be done here, some 3 putts and 1 putts. The greens are getting much faster and firmer. The course is in excellent condition now.

Overall I played ok but made some errors off the tee which cost me shots and my putting could have been better. I played the par 3s in 1 under which was something I haven't done before.

Does that mean you are putting a better iron swing when the ball is on the tee? I certainly hit it better off the tee with the irons.

I'd say yes. I feel I can put a descending blow on the ball without chunking it.
