Well done Benno, very solid round. Without the doubles it would have been exceptional!!

I was brimming with confidence this morning, but it wasn't to be. Can't just post the good rounds I guess.

    BPPBPBPPB-BBPPBBBBP for 81/32 points

Putter was cold - 34 putts, two 3 putts, not enough up & downs. Could've been better off the tee, but wasn't terrible. I guess I'm in a good place when I have a bad round and shoot 81.

A bad round isn't as bad when you avoid those Xs in your scoring. I can't remember when I last did that.

Day 1 of my cousins golf trip
    Course: Mt Compass
Stableford comp. 20/20 for 40 points off 16 (84 off the stick).
    XPBXBBPPb PXPBBBPBb

This is probably the most solid round I've played this year. Drove it really well hitting 10/14 fairways. Definitely a record for me. My irons were also solid too, hitting 10/18 greens in regulation. The M5 went great off the tee as well. Not as good off the fairways but small sample size.

Great round. 16hc is way too high for you. How are you finding the regular flex shaft in the 3w?

Yeah pretty good. It's not overly soft as I have a pretty smooth (read slow) transition. Cap just dropped another 0.8 today.

Very good round. Those are really great stats suggesting it could have been even better.

Thanks Hatch. I 4 putted the 1st hole after a careless tap in attempt. Although my putting wasn't bad for most of the day I did have a couple 3 putts. Some greens were lightning and some were slow.

You can get some long Putts there that have a bit of contour and slope to navigate if your in the wrong spots. Good distance control with that long Putt can set up a very good round around there.

04/12/2020, Hamilton Island GC, Solo Round.

    Stats: 7/14 fairways, 7/18 greens, 30 putts.
    Score: PXPBBPPPX PXBBPbXXX; 44:47:91; (+8:+12:+20).

I started with a lip out birdie, which could have been a sign that I was hitting it well, but it ended up being an on and off round. Some good shots, but the bad shots were bad enough to cop the full penalty of being lost balls.

Holes 14 and 15 were the highlight for me, with a flushed 4 iron into the wind for green centre on the par 3 14th, then two well struck three hybrid shots to the green on 15, then draining the downhill putt for the birdie.

My golf game must have thought the job was done after that, as I proceeded to hit big pulls for the remaining three holes for every full shot, resulting in eight over with five lost balls for those holes, and I threw in a couple of shanked chips just for good measure. What a way to ruin a round.

Next round: I will be trying to convince the family to play Whitsunday greens near Airlie Beach on Tuesday.

    12/12/2020, Lowood GC, Stableford.

    Stats: 8/14 fairways, 7/18 greens, 26 putts.
    Score: BPPPPBPBP BPPPbBBPb; 39:37:76; (+3:+1:+4); Stab 19:20:39pts.

Finally! This is the first time that I have broken handicap in the current five year history of my golflink record. Sure, it took my handicap moving out from 5.8 to 11.3 and playing at an easy course, but I still played well and hopefully it continues.

Driving was inconsistent, but the course didn't punish the misses of fairways, or greens too much either. The greens were a little furry, but I didn't miss anything within a couple of metres and rolled a few good ones in, including a big one on the last to finish with a bird.

Next round: I really wanted to play again immediately after at another course out that way, but I'll just have to wait until next weekend or an opening during the week.

Dunno. You’d have to ask a Queenslander.

Turn right off the Warrego at the Esk exit when you are on the other side of Ipswich.

Greens are good with some bad spot, and a little long to protect them from the heat. Fairways were patchy, and had preferred lies. It rained last night, so I don't know how dusty it might have been otherwise.

    Good one Andy.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

    20/12/2020, Jindalee GC, Social.

    Stats: 4/6 fairways, 2/9 greens, 15 putts.
    Score: BBBBBBbPb; 37 (+4).

It was a pretty good ball striking round, with a little bit of consistency with the driver, although not entirely convincing. I just kept missing greens by a little bit, and to the wrong spots, where I couldn't get up and down. Also, the greens had been scarified and sanded, so putting was a bit of pot luck.

The irons couldn't do it, so my first green in regulation was with the driver on the par 4 seventh. Two under in the last three brought the score back to something more representative of how I thought I was going. Nice work to mentally hang in there.

Next round: I'm going to book a comp round at Burleigh for tomorrow, if I can get on. And if I'm feeling keen afterwards, I might play Surfers Paradise too. Let's see how hot it gets.

    21/12/2020, Burleigh GC, Stableford.

    Stats: 4/12 fairways, 5/18 greens, 30 putts.
    Score: XPBXXBbPPB BPPPPBPP; 80 (+11); Stab 34pts.

    21/12/2020, Surfers Paradise GC, Social.

    Stats: 9/13 fairways, 6/18 greens, 28 putts.
    Score: BPBbXbPPB BPPBPPPPX; 77 (+7).

A terrible first six holes at Burleigh, where my short game was trash, got me to 9 over and all of my daily handicap shots gone. Two over for the next 12 thanks to some great scrambling left a good looking scorecard in the end.

I went straight to Surfers Paradise and continued where I left off, with the driver behaving a bit better, but the good scrambling continued. One hiccup on the front nine was courtesy of a greenskeeper deciding to mow directly behind the flag while I was in my shot, and the other was 36 hole walking fatigue kicking in on the last; both ended up with balls in the drink.

A good day for my game, and things are definitely heading in the right direction. Handicap down 0.3 to 10.4 now too.

Next round: RQ with Ferrins tomorrow.
