    1. How did you go?
I turned up and played golf. (Even played an extra nine holes at Port Fairy.)

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Finally got the eight 12m tall trees cut down along the side fence.
No golf goals, but hopefully the bag is locked.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Backwards, but turning around with the bag locked.

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
    Vic Champs.
Playing home course as nine-holer and temp greens, whilst it recovered from being under a couple of metres of water for a fortnight in Feb.
Proving that life can go on without a weekly trip to the golf course, after RSL locked the gates during NSW licensed premises shutdown in April.

    5. Did you play some great courses?
    Newcastle, Port Fairy and Warrnambool.

Tell the muppets at work where they can shove their recurring MS-Teams meetings

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
Waiting to see the real world vaccine effectiveness

Have a particular course lined up to play?
Still have the 11mx8m blank canvas, where I filled in the pool a few years ago, which could be a good practice facility.
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.

    1. How did you go?
2020 was my first year after regaining a handicap late 2019.

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
No, but starting to gain some momentum in the last couple months.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Due to being more than 5 years since previously having a cap, I submitted my 3 cards and having had a couple decent rounds, ironically I started off on 13 but over the next few months of very inconsistent golf I went out to 18.4. Started to get some consistency towards the end of the year and cap has come in slightly to 16.7.

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Not particularly. I've been focusing on improving my driving which is helping my overall game.

    5. Did you play some great courses?
Nothing amazing but played a couple new courses including Strathalbyn which is a nice hills course with some character.

    ---------------

    Handicap
    Started on: 13

    No. of rounds: 27

    Highest Handicap: 18.4

    Lowest Handicap: 13

    Finished on: 16.7

    ---------------

What are your goals for 2021?
I'd like to get my cap below 10. I think with enough golf and practice that it's possible.

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
This weekend actually. Heading down to Goolwa with my cousins.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
Will play Mt Compass, South Lakes and Victor Harbour.[/QUOTE]

    1. How did you go?
Started the year really well, broke 80 3 times and was well on my way to single figures, then covid struck and my job went bonkers for the rest of the year. Then I got injured; severed my thumb cooking, broke a rib plus a number of lower back issues all putting me out for about 4 months worth of missed golf.

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
I didn’t play much golf this year, so no. On a positive note im happy that my handicap is now getting to a respectable level.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Definitely forwards, slowing the swing down and flattening has been the key. I had some free lessons with (what I thought at the time) would be an average golf teacher. Turns out he was and has been the best coach I have ever had.

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Purchasing a set of properly fitted golf clubs that I truly love; honestly playing with blades has been a really good experience for me. I understand they are not for everyone but I really love bladed irons and seem to have no trouble hitting them. They give you so much confidence and allow you to easily shape shots. A bad strike normally goes short rather than wide; it makes a huge difference when the ball is still in play.

    5. Did you play some great courses?
The new holes at Robe were good, that tee shot off #9 is something special.

My home course (Tea Tree Gully); it’s really underrated. Doesn’t look that flash but plays well with some outstanding holes. Conditioning has been nothing short of outstanding. It’s a real pity we have too many members and a serious cart parade that spoils the party.

    ---------------

    Handicap
    Started on: 15

No. of rounds: 18 scoring rounds, about 10 hit & giggles

    Highest Handicap: 15

    Lowest Handicap: 10

    Finished on: 11

    ---------------

What are your goals for 2021?
Sort out my putting, it’s getting there but currently a slow burn. Get more consistent with my wedge shots. Lose some weight to get a more efficient swing with less pressure on my back. Perhaps see single figures for the first time. Get my daughter swinging a golf club

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
QLD & hopefully Victoria later in the year, keen to play re-designed courses: Lonsdale & Sandy Links. Ranfurlie as well

Have a particular course lined up to play?
RQ, Maroochy River, Pelican Waters, Hope Island, Nudgee new holes, The Glades OR Royal Pines, when in Rome as they say.

    1. How did you go?
Pretty darn fine. I have fundamentally changed my swing to something much better, though it does like to come and go as it pleases some weeks.

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Yes, goal was to get into the 6s, and stay there. I have drifted in and out, but it's a cap that I seem to be able to maintain now.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
    Definitely forwards.

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
A couple of highlights would be the barefoot round on the cups course at the Dunes with the lads, and the early morning round at Nambucca recently.

    5. Did you play some great courses?
Not as many as normal, but Glenelg, Port Fairy, and St Andrews Beach are always solid.

    Handicap
    Started on: 8.6
No. of rounds: well over 100
    Highest Handicap: 9.3
    Lowest Handicap: 6.3
    Finished on: 6.5

What are your goals for 2021?
Get more consistency on the swing.

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
No point planning until there's a vaccine, but have a few options to consider.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
    Nope.

    1. How did you go? 2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve? 3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Stayed on the same handicap for another year, albeit in my own mind I've gone from being a pretty decent driver of the ball to being awful. Suggest the decline has begun. Only playing once a week these days

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Wish I could say yes, but we missed our Ireland trip

    5. Did you play some great courses?
Always enjoy my trip to Victoria GC

    ---------------

    Handicap
    Started on: 8.1
No. of rounds: 30 comp, 10 other
    Highest Handicap: 10.9
    Lowest Handicap: 8.1
    Finished on: 8.4

    ---------------

What are your goals for 2021?
Given I won't put in any work, my goal is to hang on to my hcp and hopefully enjoy playing my own course a bit more.

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
Ireland, Victoria GC, Bonville and looking fwd to getting down to Tasmania

Have a particular course lined up to play?
    Hopefully Ballybunion

Pretty solid effort TC. It's a shame about the disruptions or you definitely were trending towards singles.

thanks Flavzz, I read a book by Dave Stockton called Unconscious Putting; it put a huge perspective on just reading the line and break and pulling the trigger (without any thoughts on stroke).

I went through a really good phase with my putting where I felt really confident and seem to make a good amount of putts. Sadly when covid struck and I got injured I didn't keep up the practice.

I am hoping I can get back to the way I was early this year; feeling like I had a bad round and having the card read 82 strokes.

It's a great approach. We spend too much time weighing up the million variables that golf presents us with for every different shot. Simpler is better in putting especially. Read the putt, hit the putt, get feedback and move on.

82 on a bad day would be a nice place to be.

Yes, GA has drifted out to double digits.

    Backwards as expected

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
South East Golf trip was good

    5. Did you play some great courses?
New 6 holes in the Sand Dunes at Robe is magnificent. Millicent and Lake Albert are in the great category for me.

    1. How did you go?
Had a really good year, played a lot more golf & despite a few months where I struggled with my ball striking and hooking my driver my game improved because of it. I have hit a rich vein of form over the last month which has driven my handicap to an all time low.

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Yes, goals were to play more and set a PB of 3.2. Both of which were achieved plus I had 2 rounds under par in comp which I had never done before.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Definitely forwards. Got new irons that I love and a new putter & setup that has improved my short putting.

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Shooting under par (-2) in comp for the first time ever & being -5 after 7 in comp were the highlights good golf wise. Slam dunking a gap wedge for eagle and completing the birdie challenge at my home course for the first time were both satisfying.

    5. Did you play some great courses?
Covid put a dampener on my great European plans for 2020 so 2 rounds at NSW plus playing Concord and Bonnie Doon post renovations were the highlights golf course wise.

    Handicap
    Started on: 4.5
No. of rounds: 50 played this year with 35 in comp (big lift compared to last year which had 27 rounds & 12 comp).
    Highest Handicap: 5.1
    Lowest Handicap: 2.0
    Finished on: 2.0

What are your goals for 2021?
    Get handicap down to 1.0

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
Abroad feels unlikely in 2021 but want to play some sandbelt courses, I’ve not managed to play in Victoria yet & that feels like an achievable plan.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
    Nope.

    1. How did you go?
Pretty good considering 15 years not playing and no lessons, yet. First round was over 120, reasonably consistent around 90 now.

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
Pretty much, still a way to go though.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
    Forwards

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Best moment was probably shooting +4 over 9 holes a couple of months ago.

    5. Did you play some great courses?
Yes, Glades and Royal Pines were my favorites.

    ---------------

    Handicap
    Started on:
    Nothing

    No. of rounds:
    Not sure, probably 50+

    Highest Handicap:
    Officially 17.7

    Lowest Handicap:
    12.4

    Finished on:
17.7 now, but still another round to go, maybe two.

    ---------------

What are your goals for 2021?
    Shoot lower scores more consistently.

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
Heading to Tenterfield over new years but that's about it

Have a particular course lined up to play?
    Not really.

    1. How did you go?
Played lots of golf, including some decent golf. Covid threw a spanner in the works, but I'd luckily ordered a SkyTrak just before that all hit, so I was OK for any course closures (and my home course did close for a while).

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
I had three goals - win club champs (always a longshot), defend my SA champs title, and get my handicap down into the 5s. Didn't win the club champs (lost 3&2 in the matchplay stage to the eventual champ), SA champs got called off, but I hit my handicap goal.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Definitely forwards. Still plenty to work on, but it's coming together.

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Not really a year of highlights. I enjoyed playing more OzGolf rounds, which I was able to do by bringing my son along to most of them. He really enjoyed that. Played Royal Adelaide twice, which is always a highligh - the Monday after the (women's) Australian Open, when the greens were like glass, and later in the year when it was a bit more forgiving.

    5. Did you play some great courses?
I played a lot of different & new courses, which was great. Some were really good, other less so. RA & Mount Compass are always good, but really enjoyed Blackwood, Murray Bridge and Lake Albert.

    ---------------

    Handicap
    Started on:
    8.7
    No. of rounds:
54 comp, 102 total (wow that's a lot of golf, don't tell my wife)
    Highest Handicap:
    8.7
    Lowest Handicap:
    4.0
    Finished on:
    4.0

    ---------------

What are your goals for 2021?
Keep improving & having fun. About to play pennants for the first time, I'd like to play well in that. Not sure about a handicap goal - I'd like to shoot under par, and get the handicap down into the 2s.

    Got any golfing holidays planned?
Only very tentative - I'll go to QLD at some point where I'll play Brookwater and maybe RQ if I can wrangle an invite. A Tasmanian trip might also be on the cards at some point.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
Nothing specific, outside of the above trips. Looking forward to SA Champs & pennants.

I'm not sure Flavzz, but I think BYU's father was a very good pennant player. I'm not surprised by BYU's golf improvement if that is the case.

Think you've got me confused with someone else? My dad never got below about a 16 handicap.

    1. How did you go?

Not a great year, but not a bad one either. I'm still enjoying the game, which is the most important thing.

Considering the challenges that Covid-19 threw our way, golf was a welcome distraction from the real world.

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Set low (or no) targets, and they are easy to achieve. I'm still enjoying the game, which is the important thing.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?

The stats say I went slightly backwards, but I think it stayed close to where it normally is.

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?

I fluked an eagle this year. Nothing else comes to mind.

    5. Did you play some great courses?

Only one course again this year, so a definite no.
    ---------------

    Handicap
    Started on: 6.0

No. of rounds: 66 (more than usual).

    Highest Handicap: 7.6

    Lowest Handicap: 5.9

    Finished on: 7.2

5 rounds of better than 36 points - best of 40, which was 2 over par.

    ---------------

What are your goals for 2021?

The usual. Play OK. Keep enjoying the game.

    Got any golfing holidays planned?

The SA Champs, if they go ahead and if other virus issues let me leave NSW.

Otherwise, I could copy last year's quote. I was unable to go overseas this year. I'm hoping to go next year, including a visit to Carnoustie for the Ladies British Open.

Have a particular course lined up to play? No.

    1. How did you go?
Realised how much I loved the game when it was taken away from us for extended periods here in Vic.
Was happy to just be out there after my game went backwards at the start of the year. Lockdowns reinvigorated me, and gave me a chance to grind out some pretty poor faults in the swing by bashing a ball into a painters canvas.
Came back post lockdown a better player.

    2. Did you achieve what you wanted to achieve?
In the end - yes, although if we didn’t get locked down it may have been a different story. Had 2 goals to start the year. Improve handicap and break par from our blue tees. Achieved #1 with no more games scheduled in 2020, and achieved breaking par 2 weeks ago.

    3. Did your golf game go backwards or forwards?
Took 2 steps back and 3 steps forward.

    4. Are there any outstanding experiences from the year, that you'd like to share?
Just watching the game thrive. Also - the condition of my home course post lockdown. Never seen it better.

    5. Did you play some great courses?

    Pambula-Merimbula
    13th Beach Creek and Beach
    Sanctuary Lakes
    Ballarat
    Goonawarra
    Kingston Heath
    Victoria
    My Derrimut

What are your goals for 2021?
    Break par from the tips
Get to a handicap of 2.x anytime during the year

Fingers crossed for Barnbougle after it was cancelled earlier this year.

Have a particular course lined up to play?
NEED to get on Royal Melbourne somehow. Haven’t played there for 20+ years.
