Played pretty solid golf most of the time, just a couple of double or triples in a round to blow a good score. Happy with putting and chipping considering the different courses each round.

A dull 33 points for me today. Those who don't like reading about dull rounds of 33 points should move on to another thread.

Even those who do like reading about such rounds should move on. Absolutely nothing to talk about. 2 down after 3, then either one down or two down the rest of the way until a bogey at the last. I just couldn't quite get the feel of the swing.

Avoided a rain storm by 10 minutes. That was probably the highlight of the day.

After a final round cluster**** meltdown in club champs, first round back after a week off today.

Slow, wet, cored greens, but my best ball striking in a while. 4 birdies, a 4 putt, 40 points and a ball. The one loose shot I played all day on 18 was a lost ball to shoot 80 off the stick.

    Onwards and upwards I suppose!

    31/10/2020, McLeod GC, 2-man Ambrose.

For a bit of "fun", I played my first 2-man ambrose today; I've only played 3 or 4 man before. My partner was my neighbour, who is only just really getting back into golf, and just got a handicap following three cards. His handicap was 22, but it should end up more as more cards go in. I was off 12 for the day, so our handicap was 8.5

After four holes, he had contributed only two shots out of 15, although they were two nice putts, but we were at one under. At this point my long game started to fail, but we kept making pars because my short game was going great. By the 12th, I was struggling, but we were still scoring well, being at one over. After that point, we couldn't patch the leaks anymore, as neither of us could hit fairways or greens, or get up and down. The low moment was a triple bogey on our 17th, which did my head in; I shouldn't have triple bogies, let alone doing it in an ambrose.

I was happy with my short game all day, but the long game was pretty awful on the whole with big cuts or pushes to the right. I might be on the verge of seeing some good scores, but that could be wishful thinking too.

    Score: 33:44:77 (-1:+7:+6).

Next round: Booked in for another social 9 at Jindalee next Sunday. Benno, are you in?
I'm considering trying to get into the field for the McLeod Cup on Saturday too. It was full field a couple of days ago, and pulling out the former champion card didn't work for me, so I might see if a spot opens up a few days out.

Another Jekyll and Hyde round at Half Moon Bay today. 31 points (17 / 14). One good hole followed by a bad hole. A run of par, par, birdie meant I had a chance at playing to my cap if I could par the last 2 holes. Didn't even come close.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Have you moved your membership to Pacific or just played it for a change of scenery?

More likely the quality of his playing partners got him out there.

Or lack of quality I suppose.

It was a one off. You can only put up with so many requests before you have to give the people what they want.

I find it hard to believe Carbrook only requested you leave for one week.
