    Default Nowra golf

Gonna be down south and might have a game while I'm there. Any thoughts on the best pick between Callala Beach golf course, Nowra Golf Club or Worrigee Links? I've played Callala Beach GC before but wasn't sure if one of the other 2 were worth a visit. Cheers

Shoalhaven heads is a fun course. Nowra is ok and Worrigee isnt bad just very short.

    Shoalhaven Heads is the pick.
Gerringong is unlike anything else in Australia.

Nowra is tight and shite. Never played Worrigee, and from all reports, the courses around Jervis Bay are average.

But the first two are genuine hidden gems, and complete polar opposites

Agree 100% with the first 2, about 25min from Nowra to Gerringong and about 15 from Nowra to Shoalhaven Heads. These are the ones i would be playing for sure. If i had to choose between Nowra and Worrigee i would be going Worrigee.

Kangaroo Valley is only 25 mins from Nowra.

Hard walk, but there are plenty of carts. Views and hang time on drives are impressive.

p.s. Avoid if they have cored the greens recently, as it can be a combo of 1" core holes and coarse sand.

Another good option, but the greens needed a core more than any other greens I had seen. Bumpiest slowest crapheaps I had played on in years. Which was exceptionally disappointing as I love the course.

    I havent played Worrigee or Nowra, but if I rank the Jervis Bay courses I have played, they are in order;

1 - St.Georges Basin - 18 Holes, great greens and back nine is pretty good. Possibly the most kangaroos of anywhere in the country, and miles better than the the other three.
2 - Sussex Inlet - 11 holes, couch fairways and bent greens plus an abundance of wallabies and roos. Will surprise people, but the 11 holes may put people off.
3 - Vincentia - 13 holes, very hilly, fairways are garbage although the greens have improved out of sight. Avoid
4 - Callala Bay - Boggy, narrow and generally just awful. Avoid even more than Vincentia

In short drive to Shoalhaven Heads or Mollymook because they are several notches above anything in Jervis Bay, with the possible exception of the Basin.

    Hope that helps

Agreed, a unique layout with stunning scenery and enough wow factor to impress most. Lack of nice place to sit and sip a few beers afterwards lets it down IMO.

Jazz, I did a "Qld" trip in Nowra, given the brain dead wouldn't let us in. We stayed at Worrigee and remarkably infected nobody.

I certainly wouldn't rush back but it was OK and we also played Nowra, see WB comments

Keen to go to Gerringong but a mate who lives there says the joint is chockers on a weekend so access might be tough.

    Thanks for the tips PG.

Good thing we live in NSW! For some reason our version of COVID19 is nowhere near as "unprecedented" and scary as the version they have elsewhere in the country.
