We have comps on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and 9 holes comps Thursday and Friday.

All are mixed with no set times.

If more than 10 ladies play, they have their own grade, otherwise it's a Medley.

Amazingly every member is treated equally, and nobody gives two hoots.

As for public times, they are available outside of comp and occasionally off 10 during comp times

I'd expect this type of structure is now thankfully the norm in most decent golf clubs (including mine), however it's amazing how slow things move in the hillbilly State .

Post covid, the board of Mollymook Golf Club have proposed changes that will exclude a formal Women's Committee and a formal Veteran's Committee.Every day golf will be available as fee paying 'open' events. On two days in amongst the daily open comp will be a Ladies comp and on another day a Vets comp. Two days a week will allow social golf in the mornings, alongside the open comp and each afternoon will have the option of comp or social.Competitions will be wholly organised by 'The Management'and will be mostly Stableford based.No members groups are to be allowed and no times will be blocked out exclusively for women, or men. Visitors and societies, however, will be allowed to block book tee times.Are there any other clubs adopting these methods to ensure equality?

Annual 7 day membership is about $1k - comp fees are 18 bucks. Just gets a bit salty if you and the missus want to play 3 or 4 times a week.Damn good track and pre covid all was good. Now it has all kicked off and the 300+ vets plus majority of women are taking on the board to have their right to sub committees with affiliation to the other NSW club sections, which is to be denied under the new draft bye laws.

Every other day is medley. Membership is all the same (no different classes for men and women). Still get dinosaurs that complain about women in the Saturday comp slowing the field blah blah blah but not as often as it was, or maybe I just avoid those morons.

Same here, as golf membership categories are simply 7, 6, 5 and 0 day members (with a discount for over 60yo).

There was a slight problem with women getting multiple rows set aside on Saturday and Wednesday mornings, where men had to go into a ballot to get these highly desired tee times. Sanity/equality has since prevailed, and everyone goes into the ballot.

I'm enjoying the lack of sub-committees, compared to my previous club. Without having sub-committees forcing their agendas, it is cheaper, friendlier and more focused on just getting people out there to play golf.
Many retirees organise their own internal comps on the quieter weekdays and also golf trips. Women often join tables in the clubhouse on a Sat/Wed. for a de facto presentation.

This setup makes sense to me. I'm all for the new direction and I enjoy a mix of company but there are are still men and women, rightly or wrongly, who don't want to play with the opposite gender. Particularly some women who feel intimidated playing in front of the men. Some also really like the presentation and the chance to socialise and gasbag without the other. Most golf clubs should be able to accommodate the old and new. The only issue would be with fees if you couldn't reasonably get on the course.

My club has 7, 5 and some special 2 day members with no definition of Male and Female members.

The Ladies have Tuesday until 2pm and the Men have Wednesday until 2pm, 7 Day Ladies can play any time on Saturday (in their own comp) and other days are open to all categories.

Our club has seen a big push from the ladies to allow 9 hole members to have full voting rights and to be able to sit on the board.

It was defeated soundly two years ago, as there was a big call to arms from the 7 day members to attend the AGM.

This year, the attendance wasn't there and it was defeated by 3 votes.

Out of curiosity, are the 9 hole members making a useful contribution to the Board?

It’s the 9 hole ladies. It’s a big play from the lady members to get more power within the club. Average age would be 65-70. They cause a lot of headaches for the current board.

The 9 hole male members couldn’t care less.
