    Default Putter repair/restoration

My Dad's old anser-style putter has a slot behind the face, but this has allowed the face to be bent/caved in slightly. I've got him to send me a picture (below), reckon this can be fixed?

If it can be fixed, it's likely to cost far more than a replacement putter.

If it was mine I'd have a go at using something like a an old feeler gauge tool (or a small piece of sheet metal a similar thickness to the gap) and a small hammer to effectively slide this across to reopen the gap. I think with some gentle touch it would work.
