Default September Sun 27th 8am Strathalbyn

I really should have posted something mid last moth re: the September game but did not so here we are in September already without anything locked in.
Match committee meeting was held over lunch at Murray Bridge and it's already been decided the September round will be at Strathalbyn. No date was locked in at the meeting.
    http://www.strathgolf.com.au/index.html

This Sunday is Fathers Day so most likely out for most.
I've just been on the Strathalbyn Golf Club website and they are holding their Club Champs during September so Course should be in very good nic during that time.
Only issue with this is they have finals games (presume match play) on Sunday 13th and Sunday 20th.

This leave us with Sunday 27th so that is the date, lock it in.

Course looks interesting, might give it a go next time I go down to Victor.

Hope lunch was equally as good.

Apologies I could not be there

Didn't do lunch, (as usual), course was okay for a casual hit, a good variety of holes. Previously it was scrape 'greens' which probably explains why they are all saucer shaped!?

Thanks for the company today gentlemen. I quite like the course it had a good mix of holes for a 9 hole course and the conditioning will improve in due course (Hatch said the fairway were only redone 18 months ago).

My form was ok without being amazing. Short game was decent and the driving was still a mix but had a couple decent ones thrown in for good measure.

A interesting highlight was when one of my drives hit a tree and the ball seemed to vanish for a good 5-6 seconds before hitting the same tree and falling down. In hindsight it has rocketed vertically most probably 50-60 meters straight up - that was some serious hang time.

Another highlight when Hatch did not heed the warning of the "Keep Out" of the Hobbit Hollow (refer Nadges pictures) and nearly split the gate in half .

I'd definitely play there again and the green fees at $15 are seriously great value for the course.

Good little course. Fun day as usual.
Took couple of holes but hit them ok. Once I remembered not to overswing.

Late reply as this the first time I’ve had to myself since yesterday’s game as no sooner had I got home I had to head into Ashford hospital to visit Mrs Kanga who’s been in there since Thursday. Nothing serious we hope but she’s having to have a number of different tests and scans to try and get some answers to what’s going on. Back to the game.

Thanks for the hit everyone. Cracking day for it and the company was top notch as always.
I never got on a roll like the last and first time played but still like the course equally as much. I really like the variety in the shape and contours of the holes. A mix of putting it in the right spot off the the tee for the second shot and straight holes keeps it interesting.
It was a mix bag for all us in my group with some real good play in between screwing some holes completely.
At $15 a round they are seriously under charging as it’s dirt cheap for a nice Greens Country course that will only get better since only going full irrigated fairways 12months ago.

Shot of the day was Flavzz tee shot on the 4th. Big block straight into the massive River Red Gum 50-60m off the tee. Loud crack of wood and then there was the listening and looking for the landing of the ball but nothing soon after the impact. Just as we were about to walk off in hope it came straight down there was a second cluck in the same tree then the ball came down. That ball must have gone straight up for some serious John Daly 10sec of carry air time.

Tried to play a low drawing 3iron from 150m to get under the big gum tree and stay left and high side of the trickiest green on the course.
Thought I was going to smash the fence to pieces when I straight pulled it catching the trunk part just resulting in some pinball between the 2 sides.

    Steak for lunch.
Nice piece of Angus with a bit of heat in the Pepper Gravy.
But seriously wtf is the mound of green crap I think I hacked a shot out of on the 13th bombing my plate?

I’d go Hp/Hatch then Flavzz but only because Flavzz might be slowing it down a bit to get more consistent with the driver

Hatch, are you sure that's a ball you've circled in yellow? From memory, Flavzz' ball is correct and I think your ball is blue. Don't want to blow my own trumpet too much but I recall my ball being middle of your two balls but possibly lots further up the fairway.

Braggadocio aside, it was a great day out. No crowds, no wind and temp was just right for me.

Thanks all for the hit, great fun as always.
