Badly strained my back about 10 days ago and went to the physio yesterday. I was really ginger on the first tee today. Driver consisted of 170m bunts that actually rolled out a fair way.

Anyway bunted it around for 38 pts off 1 and had 70 off the bat.

Well done Ash. What's the old saying - beware of the wounded golfer.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Rubbish golf from me today for 30 points.

I was trying an Ian Poulter style more upright stance and takeaway. Maybe it only works if you wear pink checked trousers, because the swing didn't work for me today.

How did your playing partners go with the Ian Poulter release?

Thanks Hatch. I knew there was something missing from my Poulter method. I'll try again Monday, with added sound effects. I don't think there is anything in the rules of golf or the club code of conduct that says I cannot. I will check the direction of the breeze first.

Solo practice round at Oxley today, pretty average 101 (+29), let down by some inconsistent iron striking and unusually poor chipping and putting. Couldn't get the hang of the greens today. On a positive note I was happy with my tee shots for the most part, hit 7/14 fairways which could have easily been 9 or 10 if not for it rolling a bit far (and one skied that fell short). I'm really liking the M5 driver, and hitting it better the more I use it. Also hit 1 par 3 green and almost 2 others.

Making the most of my 3 weeks off which was meant for a trip to LA, obviously canned due to the pandemic. Heading to Oxley again on Tuesday for another practice round, Friday for a comp round, then Wantima on the Sunday with the social club.

    75 | 71 (37 points)

Went out rather slow, bogied the first 3 holes but tightened it up to finish the front in +4.

Turned and went -2 thru the first 6 holes before a bogey on 7 and 2 pars to finish.

Most pleasing was the good up-and-down on the last for par. Feels like I’ve bogied it for the last couple of months.

I’m expecting a flag and a new lowest GA.

33 points at Stirling GC today. 14 on the front after playing reasonably but then 19 on the back with a birdie on the last. Potentially 2 nearest to pins and a long drive also.

Fist Comp round since blowing out to double digits.
So many dropped/wasted shots with a poor short game made sure I can’t play any where near double digits either. Living the Dream.

    82...4 fairways,5 greens, 31 putts.

I normally play a draw. A lot started right today and never came back. Short game was ok and putter was best it has been in a while but just didn't hit it well.

36 points round Royal Nudgee today

    20/16
    2 birdies
    6 pars
    4 bogies
    5 doubles
    1 other (lost ball)

    2 penalties

Hit the ball reasonably well for the most part. Two errant drives ended in a penalty each time (one wet and one unplayable).
Putting was mixed. Hard to get the speed consistent when there are two different green types (old holes vs new ones in play).

33 points this morning. Average ballstriking but the chipping kept me going. My course management wobbled a few times which ended caused some of the double bogies.

    17/16
    9 pars
    5 doubles
    4 bogies
    3 GIR

Really happy to be getting some chips close enough for a lot more up and downs (it's all relative).

S.A OzGolf group hit at Nuriootpa Sunday.
Short game not as bad as the previous day at home course. Made a couple more pars as well but overall my game is still ordinary and full of wasted opportunities from being in good position to do better.

back is still struggling. had a hit on Saturday.... had flashes of normal good shots in there, but after the front 9, the back 9 is struggle town with the back slowly tightening up and unable to swing. Most obvious with tee shots using the Driver or 3 wood. Hitting the irons pretty well, with ball contacts more solid. Putting has been great, with only 1 3 putt and that was because 1 green was super fast compare to the rest of the course. had 3 skulled chips that made life difficult.

    30 points of 12 now

35 points yesterday at Belconnen Magpies. I was 34 standing on the 17th tee, hit the fairway, then inexplicably actually MISSED THE BALL on my second shot by hitting 4 inches behind the ball. Then ended up in a greenside bunker, hit the bunker shot too cleanly and ball came to rest against a tree trunk. Then got 1 point on the last due to a lazy three putt.

Turns out 37 would have won on countback and two 2 pointers would have won the comp.

Still - I am adopting the new philosophy of IDGAF golf and it was a lovely afternoon so came away happy.

I had a slightly improved showing than my recent poor form today for 33 points. It's a bit sad that I am happy with 33, but I hit a few really good shots, so I'm feeling a bit encouraged that a good round might not be too far away.

102 at Oxley yesterday, another day of not great ball striking aside from the driver, although even it decided to fail me on the last two holes when I suddenly started pulling it left for no apparent reason. Next game on Friday in expected rain so not holding much hope for any improvement there.

RQ par 5 playing into a solid breeze
Good drive and three wood left me in the middle of the fairway 40m from front of the green and 64m from the back flag.
This green is deep with a spine front to back, false front and two tiered.
Was going to just lob a wedge in then decided to go a 1/2 pw off the back foot. Not sure how I fked the contact but it scurried off to the front left trap. Really went after the bunker shot but typical RQ no sand in the $125000 a year maintained bunkers got bounce and full contact and put it way way over the green. Stirling 60 metre flop and then a lip out. Walked off the green scratching my head at that calamity.

82/32 pts - doubled the 1st, 4th, 17th and 18th, really need to stop the blowouts.
