Unless a club has a full book of members they should be offering options for people who can't play all the time anyway!
Clubs survive on people who pay but don't play all the time.

Membership plus comp fee for about 20 games is about the same cost as the Gailes membership plus 20 games. Considering a didn't make 10 games a year when I was a playing member, it should be fine.

City golf Club Toowoomba ( the club being discussed here) full membership is $580pa and 6 days is $488. Its no cow paddock, the quality of golf course is probably relative to $3000pa in Sydney or Melbourne, and is home to QLD PGA

No extra fee per play? That is unbelievably cheap. If only I could leave Victoria!
In that case there is no threat of a mass exodus from current members and it makes no sense for them to restrict the amount of rounds played given someone would pay way more than a membership with their casual golf.

That's a poor survival strategy though. You'd rather have people engaged and getting value from less games than regretting stumping up a lump sum or being tied to a direct debt they hate. It's a screening process that not many clubs can afford.

City is one of very few courses that do charge members for social play. Its my 2nd club, i only play weekends in comps, so its not an issue for me. Comp fee is 13 bucks i think.Regardless it is the best cheapest membership in Qld easily, if not the country.

It supplements the vets who pay less and play more.

About a decade ago, social golf for members was $2 during the week, and I think $7 on weekends. Though it had been free for the longest time, at least mid week. I think the fee was introduced around 2005.

Absolutely one of the best value courses and memberships around. The nomination fee is only about $165 too. If I could manage fortnightly play I'd be a member again in a heartbeat.

I think the $77 sub only has 25% discount on green fees, and no handicap. There is a list of exclusions.

Yep. For some reason my eyes scanned over the word "Exclusions".

City GC had a social fee for members since 1989/90 when I joined as a junior. It was only a couple of bucks, but I don't think I ever played social golf there. I used to play midweek sporters and chook run comps instead (instead of going to uni tbh).

Yeah, it's I think $5 mid week now and $10 on weekends.
There was a period when it didn't have the mid week social fee, as Leon and I were playing 2 or 3 mornings a week before work when there was no fee, then switched to only about 1 game and more practice once they re-introduced it.
The price of having cheaper membership fees.
