Default Titleist t200 v TaylorMade P790 v Callaway Mavrik pro

Had a trip to Drummond this afternoon, was really struggling distance distance wise and was looking to buy a 4 and 5 iron to add to my current sets. I have a 716cb or rsi tp in play.

Spent about a 30 min hitting 5 irons in P790 and T200, was flying them on average 168m with both, TM had dy gold 105, Titleist had AMT white S300. They wanted $240 odd per iron. I was keen on the TM only due to feel, performance was the same.

When I baulked at the price, he obviously didn’t want to lose a sale so handed me the Mavrik Pro with Elevate 105 stiff. I achieved exactly the same results, after about 20 more shots. $155 an iron.

If nothing else it was an interesting exercise. The lofts of the 5 iron, titleist 24, tm 23.5, Callaway 23.

Pete, the DG 105 shafts are exceptional I think.
i hard stepped some regs in some i210’s as an experiment and love them, only thing is they play 1/2” short, but the feel and flight are super.
they have vss (some new sensicore thing) in them and they are super smooth.
id actually chase a new set in stiff and perhaps soft step them they are that good....

I was in the same boat and picked up a set of Wilson V6 with AMT.. the long irons are so much easier

the guy said the AMT was around the 100 grams in the long iron? I ended up in regular flex anyway you never know, I might end up with a 175m 5 iron .
I was also fitted half an inch short, so I’m obviously long in the wrong place
