A player of his ability should love links golf....
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

One tiny thing would have triggered him 20 years back, and he has held a grudge ever since.

Option 4 succinctly articulates lefty's position on links golf. I would assume of course.

Probably able to be applied more broadly than just to links golf.

Indeed you are correct. But there is a special little dark hole buried deep inside him he reserves for links golf.

Although the Lost Farm experience ‘almost’ got him over the line. If he had driven straight to the airport and flown home he could’ve been a changed man.

18pts at Barny Dunes certainly sunk that dark hole even deeper...

Close, but no cigar.Windy as and cold is about it.
Lefty possibly doesn't like Links because he possibly doesn't like anything that challenges the notion of making an effort to hit a ball,on the off chance that sh1t will go wrong and ruin any sense of enjoyment he thought he may have had, possibly.Otherwise,

I know the lack of trees to help define split fairways really annoys him

Links Hope Island and Palmer Sea Reef (formerly known as 'The Links'). They have 'Links' in the name, that's good enough for me.

A shame this didn't get up; was looking forward to an honest discussion; rather than saying and debating what is right or wrong

    Pity

Lefty's links form peaked 11 years ago and has been all downhill since then.
