    Default Maintaining gripmaster leather grips

Hi all, i just installed a set of gripmasters (well virge did!)

How do you guys maintain/clean them?

Is it as simple as a clean damp towel every so often?

Do they get tackier/grippier with age?

    Cheers

I am sure that I saw a thread on this subject the other day

Damp towel and let them dry on their own.

Don't know about getting tackier with age but they certainly get super tacky after a quick clean.

I am pretty sure Razaar recommends using some white spirits to clean them. I will see if I can find the thread.

No white spirits! Even Gripmaster just recommend a damp towel.

That is how I clean my non leather grips. Previously I would give them a vigorous scrub using dish washing liquid in hot water every 6 months, but reckon a regular wipe down with a damp cloth is much easier and does the same job.

Hmmm. The treatment used on the grips just needs water to be re-activated.

Any manufacturer of decent leather goods who does NOT have a vested interest in selling you cleaning products will tell you that the best thing for all treated leathers is a wipe with a damp towel.

Revisiting this, looking to see if some of my very old gripmasters can be rejuvenated. Most are 7-9 years old.

Neither Gripmaster nor Bestgrips say what Protak is, and google doesnt know either so they have managed to keep that a secret.

I found this hint on a tennis website. Clean with Metho and then treat with Castor Oil. https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/inde...s-post-6939951

Ferrins, have you ever come across Fairway tennis grips and how do they compare to Gripmasters for tackiness?
