    Default Iron shaft/head question

    Hey Boys & Girls,

Arguably a stupid question here, but if a certain set of iron shafts work and feel good in one set of heads, would they work and feel good in most other iron heads?
I've had MP-4s with Rifles 6.0 as my main gamers for last couple of years, and picked up a set of MP-53s with NS Pro 950GH Stiff about seven months ago. Love both; the 53s/NS Pro combo are definitely smoother and easier to swing (no shite). Thinking of getting another set of NS Pro 950GH Stiff (or something similar) for the 4s. The 4s/Rifles go alright, but surely logic says put a smoother shaft in a blade head, right?
    Cheers,
    FJ.

I’ve found generally yeah in similar irons but I’ve seen it myself that an awesome feel in one head doesn’t necessarily translate across into others.

I had Px 6.5’s that felt completely different in sets of MP33’s and 32’s.

    Isolation pondering is expensive.

What are the performance differences for you between the two, does one go further and the other straighter? I’d say keep your hands deep inside your pockets and ride it out

There is no logic when it comes to shafts and heads.

If you swap heads that are the same weights, the shafts will perform the same. Thats about the only constant - no guarantee that the way the head and shaft interact will give you what you want.

Having said that, I have used modus 105 in 3 sets, and been happy with how it went, but they all did perform a little different.

I love all the clubs I had with KBS tours on it. Went to 2 mizuno fittings and they all recommended it as part of the selection.
Have tried NS pros in 2 sets of irons, and can't hit it for nuts.
had the Recoil 95 on a set of Apex CF16 and didnt like it.... now I am ok with it in my JPX forge...

    so... yeah... YMMV

Change the stickers and convince yourself they’re as good as your favourite shafts. There’s 90% of your feel sorted

Cheap experiment at $20 a pull.

No regrets after doing the same last December, with 950GH in reg. (And that was to replace what I was fitted for 2 years ago.)

    Fuzzy,

Check out my listing today, RAC TPs with 950 Stiff.

They are muscle cavity model, rather than full blade, but they are pretty mint and good price.

Do you get noticeably different flight trajectories between the two sets? I would expect the NS Pros to launch noticeably higher. They are a very soft feeling shaft, with little to no vibration transmission. If the Rifles are flighted the trajectory difference is potentially even greater.

Felt great in all but feel the best in the Titleist 710 MB's.

    Hey Blakey,

I guess by feel (which is subjective) would be around how they suit my swing tempo. I can use both of these shafts; the NS Pro 950GH S feel super smooth. I may benefit from something a little firmer, but not as stout as the Rifle 6.0s. Least that's my guess.
BTW, shame you don't do the balls anymore. These days I'm getting my supplies through Squizzys.

    Hey Daves,

Yeah, different trajectories, but the 4s and the 53s are very different heads, so no idea how to tell how much of this is the different heads versus the different shafts. 4s with Rifle 6.0s are obviously a little flatter and more penetrating flight; while the 53s with NS Pros launch a little higher and fly a little higher (certainly don't balloon though). The 53s go a little further (certainly on mishits, obviously) but again that's probably more head than shaft (don't mind the innuendo...funny as it is).
