For those talking about sanding greens, ours got a light dusting, mixed with 'wintergrass seed' whatever that is, about three weeks ago. I've been blaming it for my bad putting.

My putting was better today, and I even holed my first putt over 20 feet in about 3 months, but it didn't help. My 34 points was another round that got away, with a late collapse this time, instead of the bad starts.

I've very hopeful that we'll go back to playing in fours next week, which will mean my last excuse will be removed.

First comp since the restart today, and shot a scratchy 80 (35 points). Drove well, but chipping was off and didn't hit the green on any of the par 3s.

Could've been different - burned the edge of the hole on 4-5 birdie putts, and hit the pin with a wedge on the 9th only to see it bounce way back, turning a tap in birdie into a par.

Driver and wedges were on song, just need to tidy up my short game a bit. Next game is on Saturday, but looks like it'll be pretty windy.

Bought a new putter yesterday, and it was on fire today. 74 off the stick for 41 points. Sunk some great putts to save par, especially on 10 and 17, and was generally much better inside 10 feet. Shot of the day was a 6 iron from a fairway bunker to about 3 feet for my only birdie for the day. Should've taken better advantage of the par 5s, but it was tough in some strong wind today.

    5/14 fairways, 8/18 greens, 29 putts.

Lipped out on the last which was annoying, but still a great round in the conditions. Spider Mini will be staying in the bag.

Arrrrgh. Again, solid ballstriking but putted like a blind man.

    Doubled 14 and 16 , turned in +5 (15pts) without doing a heap wrong.

Was cruising under par on the second side after birdies on 3 and 6, then three putted 7 from 20feet for bogey and another on the 9th.

    Ended up shooting 78 (42/36) for 35pts.

Got the new clubs adjusted to 1.5 flat and had a hit. Flushing it pretty well actually . Guess I am too short for regular.

But putting let me down today. Missed plenty of easy ones again. 45/40 for 34 points.

First round for about 3 months, 11 new clubs in the bag and recently cored greens, so even by my usual blasé standards I couldn’t have cared less about the score. Happy with the 30 points. And really happy just to be out there.

Good to know that talent never really goes away. My punch out game is still #elite.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

I’ll agree. Brad Hughes drills and now a Skytrak my game from 150m and in and especially 100m and in has been rock solid.

Need to do more putting though. I’m trying to get down into @LeftyHoges territory and hit all those exceptionally good shots on command.

Another swing change back to what I was doing when I got to my lowest handicap, and would you believe it's sort of working.

Can't think of the last time I've had 18/18 36 points but did. Stupid double on 17 cost me.

    And 3 X 3 putts

    Always next week

Don't do it bud, the weight of expectation that every time you stand over the ball you're able to pick a 5 yard gap at 230m with a baby draw, well, it just gets too much at times.

Stay 2 shots higher where no-one expects those kind of things from you. Your mental health will thank you.

Another poor round of 29. Drove the ball really well. Otherwise ballstriking, chipping and putting let me down. Especially the chipping, I think there were at least 3 holes where I needed two chips to find the green.

I just have to keep in mind that I must have come a long way if I consider playing to 18 over a poor round.

Well... today was a pretty good day..... everything was working. Had a brief putting lesson from a mate yesterday that helped me alot today. A couple of small missed putts were still there but was on 37 points on the 17th hole.

A wayward drive on the last hole saw it sliced deep in bush. 2nd shot hit brunch. 3rd shot came out. Went for it on the 4th from 180M to see it go long and I thought it was OBed. Wiped.

The government probably has a road map to recovery that you can borrow.

As for me, mine was a game of three halves, as a commentator once famously said. 7 over after 5, 5 down on handicap, and couldn't do anything right. 1 under the next 9, with 8 GIR in a row to get back to 1 down, and I had a 4 footer on 15 to get to square. Missed that, and limped home with 4 bogies in a row, for a total of 33 points.

After 5 holes I would've taken that, so I can't be too disappointed, although 3 putts on the last will cost me a ball.

You’ve nearly reached your goal of playing off 12 but having the game of a scratch marker!!

    Great round though.

    Well played.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
