    Default Favourite VIC Champs venue

I've had some discussions recently with a few VIC Champs regulars about favourite venue, and have subsequently decided to throw it to the people. I've devised a 'March Madness' style knockout tournament to get this done:
    • I listed out all of the Thursday-Sunday official courses.
    • Due to some duplicates I was short a few, so I threw in a couple of the better-attended Monday venues and a special 'wild-card' to round it out to 32 courses.
    • They were then seeded based on their 2020 Top 100 ranking, with the unranked courses in random order.
    • I have a table with all of the matches which will be posted here shortly.
I'll provide a link to a Strawpoll each day, which will end at 7pm the following night (I've allowed an extra day for the first poll). The first match will go a bit longer. The results will go up in this thread/ post, and the next link will be provided. I'll update this post with anything else I've forgotten.

Now, the important stuff... your vote should be for your 'favourite' Champs venue. It has nothing to do with the best architecture or conditioning. The Top 100 rankings already does that for us.

Which course invokes the best memories, where did you feel like you were in golfing heaven on earth, which course suited your game better, where did you have the most fun etc? That is the sort of thing you should consider in casting your vote.

To jog some dusty memories, here is a quick summary of the courses and related info:

There is nothing on that hole that forces you to do anything. You have much to learn ....

It’s a centre line bunker. It’s there to make you choose an option other than mindlessly trying to hit it as far as possible straight down the fairway. You could go short of it, over it, left of it or right of it. You chose to hit into it. That’s on you, not Doak.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

I didn’t lay up. I just hit it to the correct side.

The left bunker means you can't go left. The centre bunker means you can't go centre. The hill on the right that makes your ball roll into the centre bunker means you can't go right. Please tell me where the **** you're meant to go without laying up.

I did go right of it. VERY right of it. AND OVER it. My ball then run 15 metres backwards into the bunker. I didn't choose to hit into it at all.

You were lucky you hit it shit enough that it didn't get to the bunker.

No, cos that **** had a ****ing water hazard hidden in the middle of the ****ing fairway.

    Worse than a visible bunker.

    Did have the travelator though....

Travellator was exceptional. First and second holes were very unique.

Correct, you got enticed into hitting at the perceived ‘open’ target even though from the tee you can see how sloped it is.

But in saying that if you had of landed closer to the bunker you probably wouldn’t have rolled back into it.

Not true. I landed about 10 foot past and right the first time I played it and rolled in.

That's why I went wider this time.

So where the **** am I supposed to hit it?

Where Benno, Courty or I did.

Couldn’t you aim at it with that cut of yours?

Aim AT the centre bunker with a fade? Then I'm in the left bunker.

    The helicopter picture is spectacular.

For a good player like Lefty, the hole is 3w 3w when played downwind. Unless you want to go left and take a different risk.

    It's not a hard par 5

Don't carry a 3W, but yes, essentially what I'm hearing here is A FORCED LAYUP ON A PAR 5.
