Favourite VIC Champs venue
I've had some discussions recently with a few VIC Champs regulars about favourite venue, and have subsequently decided to throw it to the people. I've devised a 'March Madness' style knockout tournament to get this done:- I listed out all of the Thursday-Sunday official courses.
- Due to some duplicates I was short a few, so I threw in a couple of the better-attended Monday venues and a special 'wild-card' to round it out to 32 courses.
- They were then seeded based on their 2020 Top 100 ranking, with the unranked courses in random order.
- I have a table with all of the matches which will be posted here shortly.
I'll provide a link to a Strawpoll each day, which will end at 7pm the following night (I've allowed an extra day for the first poll). The first match will go a bit longer. The results will go up in this thread/ post, and the next link will be provided. I'll update this post with anything else I've forgotten.
Now, the important stuff... your vote should be for your 'favourite' Champs venue. It has nothing to do with the best architecture or conditioning. The Top 100 rankings already does that for us.
Which course invokes the best memories, where did you feel like you were in golfing heaven on earth, which course suited your game better, where did you have the most fun etc? That is the sort of thing you should consider in casting your vote.
To jog some dusty memories, here is a quick summary of the courses and related info:

For me, 1 and 2 are good opening holes, and 3-7 are solid. I could take or leave 8 and 9.

3-6 is awesome as stated, 7 is pretty dogshite. 8 is good to solid, nothing more. 9 is pretty meh.
Home to the best shot of the champs though.
10 is about the same as 8, 11 is great for a blind tee shot hole, 12 is same as 8 and 10 (and 1, coincidentally. LFs weak point may actually be its par 5s, upon reflection).
13 is ok, as is 13a. 14 is cracking, 15 is very good, 16 is ok, 17 is good, 18 is awesome, 18a is ok.

Versus a 2am departure from Canberra with Kev to meet a bunch of people from the internet I hadn't met before, getting there 3 hours early so cans in the car park, a busted arse front 9, then a massive comeback from 4 down to square Iain in UCW1.
I can't believe Southern experience beats a day at Victoria, but here we are.
Yup, meeting the majority for the first time, going 2 red on the back nine to snatch the important match from Courty, watching LarryLong topple Marto, captaining The Confeds to the initial Uncivil War win;
vs
Giving BITS 5 shots in what was the most inevitable result imaginable and the Union getting their first Uncivil War win.
Easy vote.

Shows how hard you were "Nedding" it, you were off 4.8 (so 6) in Feb.
Was actually only 3 shots in the end, must've just felt like 5 cos even giving you 1 was bullshit.

It’s a tough one for me.
Didn’t play at Southern but was official photographer with 5 week old Miss P as my companion.
Victoria. Had to give oldracer plenty of shots and got towelled up 7/5. Had the most fun playing the back nine in bare feet with LarryLong.

Ahhhh Vic GC.
Home of my famous victory over Monsta, set the tone for most of his NAGA efforts.
Oh and that first tee shot!

2 rounds at StAB for the VIC Champs, one was a one-over 71 for 40 points. The other I thought I was going to ****ing die. Still managed to scrap out the best 32 points of my life.
Don't know which way to vote here...

Depends on how it would affect your vote?
Does that tilt it in favour of one or the other?

It really was the average of the other 2 rounds, so changes nothing! LOL.
35 points, loved some of it more than I remember, hated some of it more than I remember. Nil-all draw, really.

Surely the company smashes it out of the park, though?

Easy win for Metro. The scene of 3pp and my glorious battle for a half. It was the match that neither of us wanted to win

I always tell people I didn’t want to be mean to the girl and deliberately halved the match.
I assume you say the same thing.
