    Default Indoor putting mat recommendations

I'm in the market for an indoor putting mat. I came across Boomerang putting based out of QLD (https://www.boomerangputting.com/). I'm sure some of you are familiar with them.

Does anyone have one and can recommend?

They are priced fairly resonably at about $75 posted. I like the idea that it gives you good feedback on speed as well as direction.

Are there any other decent alternatives?

I've got a FORB mat which works pretty well. Only real complaint is that it gets a little bump where the foam starts, although it doesn't really effect the ball.

Can highly recommend the one in pic on RHS
The pained increments are great for checking face alignment and the length is great for training a smooth accelerating stroke.
the 3 stages also work well for distance control training.
Whenever my stroke is going off the rails I jump on the mat to check alignment and re-train the brain for what is right and works.

Looks like they've updated it a little bit but its basically the same.

ighly recommend using these in conjunction with the mat as the watching the lines track straight and smooth without scrambling the lines is a great indicator of how well your stroking it.

I've got a Boomerang, but I have never really used it that much to be able to provide a recommendation on it. I pulled it out the other day, but the mat has been rolled up for so long, it was going to be too painful to get it to flatten out. I can't remember how the difficulty levels worked on it either.

I have the PuttOut mat and I quite like it. Got the whole setup with the mirror, cup, gate so I've got the works. It's more expensive, but gives you drills and other stuff you can do.

The best putting purchase I've made. I've got the Boomerang that Andy mentions and it's just so boring to use and unrealistic compared to the puttout.
I've got a 30 odd sq m synthetic green in the backyard which is great for random putting but for pure skills the puttout is the one.

A bit Exy but worth it.

If you want one I can send you mine? I have the ramp and about 2.5m of the felt mat. I've had it for years. Dont waste $75 on it.

    All clear now mate.

Interesting feedback from the group. I think the Puttout and the Skilz versions both have merits. I suppose the good thing about the Boomerang is you could always use it on any other putting mat to combine powers.

JMHO any putting mat that doesn't have markings/lines or mirrors to help with checking some form of alignment is a complete waste of time using.

I agree, you need some point of reference for face angle and alignment.

I’ve got a birdieball mat. They have a huge array of options. It’s great and deserves more use than I give it.

Is it hard to hit perfect putts on the puttout? Just watched a couple of YouTube videos that suggest it’s extremely hard once you get to the back of the mat (6ft-ish).

The further you go back the harder it is. If you’re hitting them from the same spot for a while you’ll dial the speed in soon enough.

If I make 3 from any length (total not in a row) I’ll move 2-3 ft and try again. Keep moving up and down the ladder.

Mixing up the length of the putt often is very important for getting the feel of the length of stroke required and training some distance control.
Repeatedly hitting from the same spot over and over would be pointless practice.

Flavzz, to me it seems that any of the above just need an elephant stuffed under them to then match the green breaks at TPGC!

Great tip and something many people would not do.

Great call. I'll just roll the mat out over the dog sleeping in the lounge.

This. Direct from their website and pretty sure I used a discount code. Was a couple of years ago.

Bought this from Bunnings this evening.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ideal-di...arpet_p6620402

Cut to length for $16.50 or so per metre.

Speed is good and surface is smooth.
