Completely over the top. Low risk people forced to wear masks in the open air but it’s still pretty much open slather to visit nursing homes..

We have had significant nursing home access restrictions for months. I can't imagine Victorias are less stringent.

Benefit of Covid. Our highest membership in a very long time, and full timesheets every week. The clubhouse isn't making any money out of poker machines, but the funds gained there go to the associated football club, not the golf club.

Just want the golf members bottom bar to be opened for business.

The exceptions are if you have to talk a lot like teachers and if you are running but not walking.

There’s been reports of staff some working across multiple sites in Victoria, unvetted.

Families are made to suffer when a basic point of “Hey, let’s not introduce the risk of cross-contamination because old people make up 99% of all dead”.

Lazy policy. Just like QLD Chief Health Officer now introducing the seated policy in licensed venues.

I think it's just Melbourne no golf. Regional Victoria gone to stage 3 which is where Melbourne has been the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately everyone is being punished.

Not so sure. The guidelines can be confusing. I read yesterday that communiuty sport is off in regional Victoria under stage 3.

Think I'm right. Just checked my home course in Geelong and all the timesheets after Wednesday are locked.

Melbourne metropolitan area is the restricted area referred to. Non contact sport is allowed in Regional areas. It's getting harder to navigate the DHHS website with all the different rules.

6B Community sport and physical recreation

Persons aged 19 years or over
    1. A member of the public aged 19 years or over may only participate in a community sport or a physical recreation activity if:
it is outside the Restricted Area; and
    it is non-contact; and
it does not involve a participant who ordinarily resides in a Restricted Area; and

Looks like we can play. In 2's and no comps. Clubhouse closed. Looks like a few practice rounds over the next 6 weeks.

So - Lieutenant Dan Andrews extends lockdown for ANOTHER 6 weeks - with the earliest golf courses being able to reopen in Metro Melbourne on 24 October at the earliest !!!
That’s 6 weeks from 29 March to 12 May and 12 weeks from 3 August to 24 October (at best)..
That’s a third of the year gone !!!

I’ve got no words to express my anger at this whole situation. I’m not one of those tin-foil hat wearing Karen’s- I’m actually one of his biggest supporters, but this one is going to cut real deep !!

Sounds like a pretty selfish position to take.
I am no Dan Fan, but he is taking the advice of the experts and I tend to go with the experts' advice.

Selfish ??????I think you’ve misinterpreted my rant - I actually AGREE with him - just “angry at this whole situation”.

I unreservedly apologise. I misread the rant as being angry about missing golf for a few more weeks while the state comes to grips with bringing the case levels down to a level that can re-open things back up again without fear of a third wave.

    The whole situation does suck.

A sad day for my fellow Victorians, and especially those in the Melbourne metro area. All due to a combination of arrogance, incompetence, and a healthy dose of stupidity. There won't be any golf played in Melbourne for a long, long time.

Still no border opening so Coomealla is struggling for numbers, but courses within Mildura are gettinga lot more use. It is pretty hard to take not being able to travel to my home course to play golf when we have only had 6 cases allocated to our LGA for the whole pandemic so far and only 2 of them were actually in the district!

Oh well, my golf was shit before the shut down so I keep hoping the break will do me good!

Pretty sure Murray Downs is struggling for numbers.

Have rules changed for Regional Vic clubs?
    Eg...back to 4 in a group?

    Yep.
    • Groups of up to ten people will be able to meet up outdoors. This does not include children under 12 months of age.

All regional adult non-contact sport can recommence. In other words back to normal for golf albeit with masks and social distancing. I suspect we will be back to comps in 4's as soon as the official word form Golf Vic comes through.
