Another 3.5hr round today, but the pace was quite varied. We teed off about 15 minutes early and the first six holes took us only 1hr i.e. on 3hr pace. But the next 6 slowed noticeably and took 1.20. The last 1.10. There was active marshaling today, and a group in front were said to have been given a hurry up which seemed to coincide with some speed up in the field. Lost balls is an issue, but some haven't a clue on 3 minute limit etc.
I think I might cry if I read anymore #Victoria
Bushy & I have done 2 rounds at Gordonvale in around 2.75 hrs. Tomorrow at Cairns we'll be mid-morning (expecting quite a bit slower), but Sunday we're first group off and aiming to set a lap record.

This needs to be vlogged. Just don't put on one of those filthy Rick Shiels Lancashire accents...
We had two brothers go round on a Sunday recently in 1hr, 11 minutes, some running was involved

3 hours 30 today, hit off at 2:05 and just scraped in. I think there were 3 groups behind us though
350 today. Front was ok. Back 9 was dreadful. Two notoriously slow guys were in groups in front of us.
Sat on the tee with the group in front on 11,14, 15,16. Terrible stuff, but happy to be golfing
Had to have a giggle at the last email from the GM....
They are now limiting/monitoring how many rounds people are playing per week!
Limit will be 3 rounds so “essential workers” and the like can get a round in...
Most of the old guys I play with on Wednesday play 5 days a week, and that’s fairdinkum!
A few of those have mentioned they will take heed and toe the line, lol.....
My club did this a couple of weeks ago, and warnings have been issued...
They have also changed the booking sheets so when it opens now for weekday comps, you can only book in once initially [all open at the same time] - then you have to wait and check when it reopens again each day from then on to see if there is a spare spot if you want to play multiple days.
Most old guys should be staying home anyway?
Yeh, I’m not sure how they are managing it, but wouldn’t be hard to do so I’d imagine!
The Pro’s have a starter managing who goes off etc.
They know everyone by name personally, won’t be hard remembering guys out there every day of the week!
Good that I'm a member of two clubs
I’m subtly trying to convince my dad to stay away, he’s 75 but still playing 3 days a week (on north coast).
I’m sure I’d find it hard too, especially when you can’t do anything else except go to Bunnings or flower power.
Back to the pace of play discussion. We are on 6min gaps, and 3.10 is about the go. I think the gap is important. If we were at 8mins, then we would all move quicker. I have had one round at 2.50. The short gap pretty much means 3 groups per hole, but it is moving okay.
We have comps 5 days per week with mandatory participation if taking a slot 6.30-2.00pm. The other two days are optional comp any time. Three neighbouring courses are still shut, so every slot is full of visitors if not a member.

Our Saturday round took 3.40. We teed off early again (5 min gaps) but it didn't take long to slow to a steady crawl. The front nine took just under 2 hours. The group in front of us pulled out on 11 (rain) and that speed things up for us for a bit and we came home in 1.45. Still too slow, but I will put up with it with full fields.
A few interesting behaviours have surfaced. The main one is that the comp fields are filling up, but on some days less than half of those are entering the comp i.e. social players are putting their names down in the comp field time slots. Doesn't seem to be being policed as yet, but I know the board are reviewing it. Would seem to be straight forward to me. I know Wynnum are charging everyone a fee to play, comp or otherwise, to cover costs.
The other, also seemingly not being policed, is the number of visitors in our fields. Some are ex members who moved to a neighbouring club a few years ago, but still seem to expect to get a game when it suits them. I don't have a problem if the field isn't full (and they pay the appropriate fee), but if the field is full and there is awaiting list, different story. The other interesting observation is where some of the visitors are apparently traveling from. I would like to see them explain to the appropriate authorities how they are complying with the current directives??.
How is this for a weasel statement from GA, A Holes!;
