Good thinking. Nothing could live in there.

We still had members in the clubhouse yesterday,as well as socialising on the putting green. We still had over 120 players in comp, and social play was full as well.I have also herd that golf outlets are selling more than normal, seems the golf course may be the option for those with no contact sports

I heard there were at least 70 boats at the bait grounds off the Gold Coast this morning. That is triple the number at least that you would expect. This COVID-19 is just a big joke and a excuse to R&R from reality to some.

Helensvale carpark was full for first time ever yesterday. Probably due to first good weather for a few weeks, no kids playing sport, and a gut feeling there might not be a next week

Assuming the shutdown goes ahead, it will be interesting see if course staff can maintain the courses. My super has told me if they can’t attend for two weeks the course will take 3-4 weeks to recover.
    Forum needs more banter.

No non essential activities means golf clubs will have to close. I can't imagine they would arrest people walking onto courses that aren't fenced off. The police might roll up if it's a lot of people.

I was told yesterday that Clubs QLD have issued an edict that if anyone in the club gets a confirmed case the entire club must shut for 8 weeks (including grounds staff). Imagine the state of the course after that! Note: I'm not sure if the positive result is staff only or extends to attending members/ visitors etc.

I’m sure staff in that situation would be allowed to turn up.

In the interests of being better informed, I did some research and found that what I was told was incorrect. The Clubs QLD website says the following:

Question: If staff member was to test positive to corona virus, would we have to close the club for 14 days or quarantine that staff member only? Would this also apply if we were aware a member had tested positive?
Answer: A club closure will be as a directive from medical authorities and will depend on the exposure risk. It is managed on a case by case basis. The best advice at this stage is this:
    • If a club is directed to close from medical authorities then they should comply.
    • Clubs should consult their business insurance policy to check their entitlement to coverage for any financial losses. This is something clubs can proactively do now.
    • Furthermore, if this does occur, the Club will be required to stand staff down under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) for the duration of any closure of the Club. Staff are not entitled to receive wages during this period, however Clubs should consider whether staff are able to access their paid leave entitlements, particularly if staff are unable to access income protection, although there is no obligation to do so.

Yep, the actual course and pro shop. But clubhouses will have to close.

PM is live on TV. He just outlined whats allowed and whats not. Didnt mention golf, but i get the vibe that he thinks it is ok as long as no congregating in groups of maybe 10.

depends on what you want to hear I guess. I heard he wants people to stay home unless it’s essential you go out. That means you/I shouldn’t be going to golf.

    I have just received an email from our GM advising they have got the go ahead for Golf from the Qld CHO;

A further update to the update just released. I have just now received advice from Golf Australia that confirmation from QLD Chief Health Officer Janette Young that she has approved that Queensland Golf Clubs can operate on their Golf Courses from tomorrow (25/3/2020) in accordance with National Cabinets approved measures relating to outdoor gatherings which includes but is not limited to having groups less than 10 people and maintaining a 1.5m spacing.

The golf event tomorrow will be a single stableford medley 1 tee start. Limitations on the number of people in the shop at any time will be in place as will restrictions on 1 person per golf cart.

As this news has come in late tonight we ask Members to be patient when dealing with Club staff tomorrow morning as they implement this change.
