Didn't see the crows game but I was pleased to see they got smashed. Good to see the lions get a win in a pretty close game, then watched the Gold Coast game and expected an easy Eagles win, that surprised me.

Good to have it back, Thursday's game was a bit ordinary but I enjoyed what other ones I watched.

A few odd results, but not so odd considering the big break. Next week might be a bit more settled.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching Footscray beat GWS last night. Much more interesting than the borefest NRL has become.

Recent rise of positive test results in Vic have made a complete mess of the whole season now.

Printed and placed on the door. Not that the meat axe would know what to do with it.

Still don't understand why the big issue with Jake Carlisle vs Dane Rampe - seems fair game to me.

Wow - just read that - misconduct? - to me that is an embarrassing stance by the AFL to even contemplate that it was worth any charge at all.

Give me repeat stoppages anyday over this new rubbish where you just drop it, push it along or play tunnel ball non stop. There would have been 200 incorrect disposal frees any other year in this Freo Pies game.

Repeat stoppages are boring. It's meant to be a free flowing game not a rolling maul and congestion everywhere because they're playing under 12s style with everyone on both sides following the ball wherever it goes. If I wanted to watch that I'd watch rugby. Anything that reduces that shit is a good thing.

Just bring Jacko back. That will liven the game up a bit

I lost interest in the AFL couple years ago with rule changes. How many others are in the same boat?

AFL would have to be one of the more difficult games to Umpire as a number of the rules are very much interpretation.
The biggest issue with the game v the past is the amount of Umpires on the ground.
First there was 1 Umpire so only 1 interpretation which had a fair chance of being consistent for the day.
Then the game needed 2 to catch the off ball stuff so we ended up having 2 possible interpretations.
Now with the speed of the game we have 3 with quite often 3 different interpretations of what is a free or play on.

I haven't lost complete interest but I no longer buy club Membership, Season Tickets or will pay to see a game.
I like to sit down and watch it on tele and if I don't like the game on the day due to it being poor will walk away and do something else.
High or low scoring also has nothing to do if I like a game or not too.

yep, my team even made a grand final and maybe a couple prelims in the last few years and I had zero interest in watching any game all season and still dont.

The constant fiddling is annoying, but I still enjoy the game for the most part. I also live in false hope that it might get back to something resembling what drew me to it as a kid in the mid 90s, free flowing, big kicks, big forward marks... instead of this stoppage fest and flooding everyone back in defence BS that happens more often than not these days. It's a pointless and stupid tactic to me, because when they do win the ball they have nobody to kick to as they're all still in the defensive 50. I know it doesn't always happen but when it does it just makes for a boring and frustrating game.

I just believe if they continue down this path they will lose audience.
There are always your die hards but with the lack of sports at schools and at youth level. The next gen aren't going to follow.
I heard whispers of the salary cap getting lowered. No way they are going to get the same income from TV rights next time.
