Foxtel have let go of about 30% of its workforce. A second hand rumour is that the termination rates are up 20% this year, this is why they are no longer calling anyone persuading them to re subscribe. They cannot keep up with the defection rate

    They are going broke.

The Cognitive capacity, or lack thereof, of the fair proportion of our population continues to astound me.

The number of bullshit internet myths being circulated by supposedly intelligent people at the moment has me face palming (figuratively speaking only) a lot. And they are arguing ferociously that it is correct and from a reliable source, when even the most basic Cognitive thinking would smell the BS.

You can add all social media to FB. They are all outlets for morons, idiots and the loony fringe. Just when you think people can't sink any lower in the stupidity stakes, they push into new frontiers with such ease it is stunning to watch!

WhatsApp is apparently excelling itself at present, or at least the users are.

    And then you get idiots like these using older version of social software;

The one I was metaphorically face palming yesterday was that Covid 19 can't survive in climates/temperatures above 27C. And the supposedly intelligent people were attributing this to the CMO, and even claiming they heard it first hand on the TV! My wife got an email from a close friend on similar lines, and they swore it was issued by a Brisbane Hospital Chief and had come from a local Nurse. I un-subtlety pointed out that our Body Temps were 10 degrees higher than that, so maybe, just maybe you should question those "facts"!

I have an employee who is dedicated to "AGENDA 21". He approached me yesterday and come up with some bullshit that the army are ready to circle each affected suburb and use force if we try and escape. He was also asking me about what my contingency plans are for when we get locked down for 16 weeks. If I have to shut the business then will have to do as we are told by my lawyers and practice as per standard awards.
I subtly suggested that he can believe what he likes, but if it starts affecting his work, then I will have to do something more drastic.
"AGENDA 21" is full of conspiracies from the trails coming out of airplanes is actually the government putting aluminium in the fuel so it sprays us. This also blocks the UV which keeps the virus alive, but also genetically mutating our crops.
Look it up and if you dare. This is the crap that us out there. The crap people are reading.

    To keep everyone in?

I honestly don't know how states plan on closing borders.

I am presuming they are talking about any none essential travellers having to self isolate for 14 days. That was Tasmania's approach (though easier to implement as an island) I believe that NT has also implemented the same requirements. I have been expecting all states to move to this by now or this week. Suburb/District Lockdown will be next.

One of the things I am starting to see emerge is small groups starting to talk about We rather than Me. The sooner this gets some legs the better. I am wondering what we can do to contribute something positive to our Society in these times?

    Like.

I wonder if that contributed to Bondi beach being full yesterday!

There is some research focused on area, but its not a case that Covid19 cannot survive outside a host in warmer temperatures, but rather that it cannot survive as long. By how much is not yet certain, like almost everything related to this virus we are in uncharted territory.

It will be interesting to see long term statistics from Indonesia, where its often over 30c at night, they dont have a winter, and half the country are 'poor' so dont have air conditioning.

Victoria and NSW are looking to go to lockdown now. If lockdown occurs Schools will probably close as well. School holidays were a couple of weeks away anyway, so may as well go into a prolonged holiday till after Easter. The issue will be providing childcare for Health Workers. You would think that this can be mobilised with the right focus, and with schools closed to normal classes.

That is the fear with schools closing. Majority of kids are just carriers. 50% of healthcare workers have school kids.
Can't afford to take them away from work so who looks after the kids? The grandparents.

Simple. No-one is visiting brothels or tattoo artists, so they can look after the kids

    AFL gone.

At this point it seems the NRL intend to continue, but I don't see how they can if there are travel restrictions between NSW and Qld. On that subject, living as I do not far from the border, I don't see how such a restriction could possibly be made to work.

I made my regular Saturday night visit to my local RSL last night. It was really strange. There were a number of barriers to create artificial rooms so that the number of patrons could be restricted below 100. Signs at the bars asking patrons to stay 1 metre back unless being served. Even stranger, every second poker machine was turned off to create a 1.5m space between machines. There was hardly anybody there, so there was no danger of breaching the 100 person rule.

As I was leaving, a group of about 15 young persons were entering. I suspect some of them had no intention of adhering to the social distancing rules, particularly after they had consumed a few beverages.

I got the normal $25 when I canceled from the PC.

I'm not sure what I would watch on it now though without the footy.
