Played The National Golf Club yesterday (Moonah Course) and got absolutely ejected. 24 points playing off 6. Gives new meaning to being below the hole, if you're above it, kiss two putts goodnight. At one stage hit a birdie putt from 30 foot above the hole 15m off the front edge. Unbelievable course though, just need rounds there to know what lines to take.

    New personal record.

11 bunker shots in one round. Only one hitler.

Haven't had much to report on lately, but a rare weekend off (snowboarding in Japan) led to a turnaround in form.

I shot +5 in Par (playing off 6), so 73 off the stick, 41pts equivalent. I should be stoked with that, but given I was -2 with 3 to play I'm a little dismayed at what could have been.

Course still open, comp still on, so I was determined to enjoy it, as we won't know how long the privilege of playing comp golf will last.

I didn't really play very well, for 32 points. I spent a lot of time saving bogey after hitting a poor shot, and no time taking advantage of the good shots. The only putt I holed all day was ironically after a duffed chip.

Still, right now any time out on the course with friends is time to be enjoyed.

21 points, just about every part of my game was rubbish. I had no tempo for most of the day and started off 4 putting the first hole.

36 points at Richmond (17/19). Started on 10, birdied 18, had a few 3 putt bogeys, social distanced myself like a boss...the sort of mixed bag that I expected.

Plenty of good scores coming in, so no expectation whatsoever of a ball.

    Stroke at Maryborough today.

Started well, parred the first 4 holes, and then birdied 5 and 6 to be red for a change. Safe par on 7 was handy, but an average drive clipped a tree, leaving me dead for a soft bogey. 9 is our easiest hole, and with the pin tucked, i got aggressive - and spun it sideways off the green into the pish. Easy double from there to turn +1.

Back 9 started ok, pars on 10 and 11, but busted out another double after snapping it off the tee, and sending the lads on the first green scurrying. Bounced back nicely with a birdy on 13, and pars on 14 and 15. Final three holes went bogey / double / bogey, all with really slack shots off the tee. Happy to break cap and grab another flag though.

1st round of Club Champs last Saturday, North course, struggled a bit with 92/79. First round in almost a year, so still happy.

2nd round of Club Champs today. Had a solid round of 81/70 on the West course, much better short game, a few more putts dropped.

Played pretty average today on the first 9 with missing a few easy putts. Then figured out the swing on the back 9s.

Played a Par round at North Haven with DMG today - DMG won C Grade with a +4 (well done mate), and yours truly managed to scrape in with a 0, which surprisingly was enough to snare A Grade. Winning team!

22/03/2020, Jindalee GC, Social 9 Holes.

Today's round had moments of absolute trash that led to a bad score. Three doubles or worse; two from badly hit hybrids, and the other from dud putting from off the edge of the green.

It was my first round with the new driver, and while it surprisingly didn't solve all my troubles off the tee, it was definitely longer. The highlight was hitting the par 4 seventh green from the tee, but my ka-kaa for the birdie was subdued, because I left the eagle putt 10cm short in the heart.

    Stats: 3/6 fairways, 2/9 greens, 15 putts.
    Score: XPPXXBbBP; 41 (+8 )

Played social today at Whaleback GC. Short 71 public course.
Took the jpx900 tour out instead of the forged and I was hitting them very nicely.... but was let down by my chipping and bumpy putts on the greens.

    Had a 42 43 85 on the card

We had a pairs ambrose this weekend (2 day event). My partner (oldest bloke in the field) and I came 3rd, 1 shot behind the winners. I'm not used to be 200m+ out on par 4s, but we managed pretty well. I drove well and hit some great wedges, but didn't take advantage of the par 5s - only birdied one of them over the 2 days - which cost us.

75/72 today on cored and scarified greens. They were doing them in front of us the whole way around. No birdies.

Stableford at Maryborough today, off 6.

Started poorly with a knifed chip on 1 for a slack double, and an awful pitt on 3 for a bogey to be 4pts. Got my arse into gear with 20ft birdies on 4 and 6, and pars on the rest of the front 9 to finish 1 over (19pts).

Back nine started poorly - weak putt on 10 for a bogey, and my tee shot on 11 clipped a tree and couldnt be found in 3min for a slack wipe. 13 had a 2ft par putt, which bounced off the pool noodle and out for another slack bogey. 14 hit a drive up the left that clipped a fallen branch on the edge of the fairway to head OB for another wipe. Found myself on 4pts through 5 holes. Made a miraculous tree save on 15 to record another birdy, then easy pars on 16 and 17, followed by a bogey on the tough 18th to finish for 14pts on the back.
