Default South East Weekender May 22,23,24

After many discussions after games that we should do a South East Weekender we now have our first one planned.

It can be either a 2 day trip or a 3 day trip depending on if you can get the Friday off work.

Dates are for May Friday 22nd, Saturday the 23rd and Sunday 24th.

We are looking to stay in or near to Millicent.
Everyone to arrange their own accommodation.
Get in early and check with TC as he has something arranged with limited spare rooms.

    The Courses and Format
    Day 1_Friday May 22nd
    • Drive to and play Lucindale. Aim for hit off say around 12-12:30. Can finalise this time closer to date.
    • Drive to accommodation in/near Millicent
    Day 2_Saturday May 23rd
    • Play Millicent. If some are making it a 2 day trip we will play in the afternoon otherwise we might go for a morning time. Can also finalise this closer to date.
    Day 3_Sunday May 24th
    • Drive to and play Robe most likely mid to late morning.
    • Head home after game

Robe cont. Last 6 (the boring 6)
Lots of flat open space on this side compared to the first 12 if your spraying it wide.

that last hole has a better angle from the other (LHS) fairway

takes OOB out of play as well

Was a pretty uninspiring last 6 holes (besides the last, had a fun approach shot). I will put a synopsis up later today once I get a hold of all the current parasites (left over from my day off on Friday)

Enjoyed Robe very much but was completely spent by the time we got to the back six and really struggled. Definitely reminded me a lot of the Glanville Par three with the roads and houses surrounding and also that church tower. There's one just like it at Glanville.

Next time, I'd like to play this first.

I would agree but you can not play the 10th if playing Millicent.

While Port Fairy is a great course and one I really want to play one day I think it’s a bit of a stretch to do that trip ^.
Port Fairy is a 6 1/2 hour drive from Adelaide. That sort of distance is a hard ask to play then drive home at the end of a few days. From personal experience doing a bit of drive/play or play/drive trips between 4-5hrs is about the max before a stop and stay somewhere is best/smart.

Im sure they would have a twilight rate that would allow us to play up to about 13 then maybe skip over to 18 from that point

Did anyone else get the Covid Stop checkpoint on way home from Robe?
Cops had a checkpoint setup in Meningie stopping everything when we went through asking travel and Covid questions.

I thought it was weird to have a Covid checkpoint there 4hr drive into the state.
Thought it was a breatho/drug test stop when driving up.
