Default South East Weekender May 22,23,24

After many discussions after games that we should do a South East Weekender we now have our first one planned.

It can be either a 2 day trip or a 3 day trip depending on if you can get the Friday off work.

Dates are for May Friday 22nd, Saturday the 23rd and Sunday 24th.

We are looking to stay in or near to Millicent.
Everyone to arrange their own accommodation.
Get in early and check with TC as he has something arranged with limited spare rooms.

    The Courses and Format
    Day 1_Friday May 22nd
    • Drive to and play Lucindale. Aim for hit off say around 12-12:30. Can finalise this time closer to date.
    • Drive to accommodation in/near Millicent
    Day 2_Saturday May 23rd
    • Play Millicent. If some are making it a 2 day trip we will play in the afternoon otherwise we might go for a morning time. Can also finalise this closer to date.
    Day 3_Sunday May 24th
    • Drive to and play Robe most likely mid to late morning.
    • Head home after game
The List of who's going & how many Days:
    1. 3 days_Hatch - locked in

    3. 3 days_Wazamac - Dark pencil

Yeah. I am supposed to be on a balcony right now overlooking Kamala Beach.

I found a house in the forest, has a second bedroom with two singles in it....

Im not sure if we would be breaking COVID law though with 3 ppl sharing a house...

One of the key attractions of this trip is seeing the new holes at Robe. This is their current position and if it does not change by Mid May for me its not worth the trip

Maybe we should just make the call now and postpone it until everything has settled down?

Was going to wait until around first week of May as the situation is rapidly improving by the day in SA

I'll be out sorry lads. No matter what happens I'll need to be extra careful until there is a vaccine or this settles way down. The trend does look really good, but will all depend on how it goes after restrictions are lifted.

I just rang Robe and confirmed that visitors at this stage are not welcome and that the whole town in fact is closed.

That said, they are reviewing the situation in four weeks time and they will let me know and/or post on facebook if the situation does change at all.

    TC

in SA a gathering exceeds 10 people. Different to what you see on the National media re NSW and Vic

Just make sure you have social distancing - no spooning in a shared bed!

Makes absolutely no difference if the courses are only open to members.

Yes, I understand, although the position could change from early May. It's in the clubs best interests financially to accept visitors

Also Hatch cannot get a refund on his accommodation so he will be going regardless

Just received word from my manager that everyone has to take mandatory leave, so work is no longer a factor for me in this.

Cheap accommodation available in Mt Gambier - cheaper than Millicent and assured of a having more facilities open (i.e. Maccas), for meals etc.

Mt Gambier GC is open to non-members and they will allow us to play in their comp if we want.

If there's no change with Robe, we can do Lucindale, Mt Gambier and Millicent before heading home.

Is the position the same for the other courses?

Millicent looks to be accepting visitors. Going to make some phone calls but not until May 1

But Mt Gambier doesn't have the best Subway in Australia in it - like Millicent does...

If you guys do end up playing Millicent, can someone get in touch with me before you play? I need a bit of a "favour".

As TC said I can't get a refund on our accom so we will be going for a holiday regardless.
If Robe is closed for Visitors a roll down the hill from Millicent to Beachport for a round could be on the cards as a replacement.
I like to cross 1 course off my never played before list. Robe, Beachport and Bordertown are the only ones down that way I've never played.

Mount Gambier has always impressed me so will be my choice for Saturday if Robe doesn't come to the party.

I would be happy to also play just the 6 new holes @ Robe Sat arvo after a gambie round

Millicent is open to visitors. Just need to let them know when we’re looking to hit off on the Saturday. Else, can play whenever.
