Terrible news. My brother and I could have killed each other a hundred times if that's all it took. Really feel for all involved.

Think you might find there are more punch ups or near punch ups at golf clubs than you think , was a major court case in north qld over a guy hitting a golfer over the head with his driver . Recently a matchplay at my club at the time erupted with fists being raised. Couple years ago a half pissed member invited me outside because I told him to shut his mouth, every second word was “ faggot” and was directed at a group of members who where most definitely not gay

Many years ago in Sydney Major Pennant a match between two clubs that hated each other was tied 3-3 with the final match going to extra holes.

On the first extra hole one club's player refused to concede a short putt which was subsequently missed so there was an exchange of words followed by both players and caddies in a fight on the 1st green.

They were finally separated but it was on for young and old when both teams got into the locker room, I think both clubs were suspended from the rest of the series.

This one from Sth Africa last year was a doozie, after the club champs one player accused another of being a cheat and a fight erupted.

If the putt was missed it's clearly perfectly OK not to concede it. Shouldn't have been anything to squabble about.

If my opponent had a 3 footer for the win, I would make him hole it too.

Yup, any putt over 6 inches for the win? Sorry bud, you're putting out.
