Hitting the irons great now I've changed my grip. But it is screwing up my driving.

A standard 34 points for me today. 5 of my last 7 rounds have been 33, 34 or 35. Many claim they want more consistency, but this type of consistency maintains your handicap without winning anything, even the end of round lotto tickets.

I hit the ball really well for the most part, but couldn't convert the good approaches into birdies, and had to take my medicine whenever the rough came into play. After lots of recent rain the rough is US Open style, and a guaranteed shot stealer.

Was that the final? Well done. I'm still a bit sour about losing my final back in November.

Bit of a run at Maryborough this week.

Wed - Stableford off a daily of 7.

Rollercoaster round - 5 birdies (PB), 3 pars, and a heap of bogs and doubles. 2 chip ins, and 3 1 putt birds. Otherwise a pretty trash round.

    18/19 37pts
    4 gir
    5 birds
    3 pars

    Sat - Stableford off 7

This one a bit more steady - no birds, and a tonne of pars. 2 stupid doubles though.

    16/17 33pts
    6 gir
    0 birds
    10 pars

Finished the day at 29 points

New high points/low score this morning with 42 points that was 75 off the stick (70 par).

Had a cracking start with a birdie, lip out birdie putt and another birdie. Unfortunately that form didn't continue. A 3 putt and two double bogies were the only downers for the round.

This was my first round under the new handicap system and I think my handicap will go back to where it was before the changes.

Had a practice yesterday with a slight swing change.
Played today in the club summer cup. Still struggle to contact the iron nicely but the putting saved the day. 38 points off 13 hdcp with 2 blown holes.

    30pts at Blackwood Sunday
Lost ball after 1st tee shot off the day and another new ball drowned 5 shots later on the 3rd hole it wasn't looking great.
Scrubbed the 18th hole (played back nine first) after a hosel rocket for 12pts. Came home with 18pts and put my name on the NTP on the 8th and made bird.
    Hcp gone out another 0.3.
Next 3 are all low flags. Hoping to be on double digits in few more games time.

25 points for me today. With my best putting round in months. Ball striking was the absolute pits. Timing completely off and I couldn't find anything that worked.

15/02/2020, Portland GC, Vic Champs Rd 1

I finally have a chance in front of the PC to write up my Vic Champs weekend scores.

I sorted out my putting issues from the Warrnambool round on the practice green, and had just 28 putts for the round. The driver was a lot tidier than the day before, which gave me more chances of pars, or at least I wasn't having to punch out of trees regularly. I even had a couple of birdies for the day. I won A-grade nett at Portland, and claimed day 1 of the Vic Champs. Not bad, considering the lack of play, and uncooperative body.

    64% fairways, 39% greens, 28 putts.
    Score (18th start): B BPPPPPBXP PBbPBbBB ; 40-39-79 (+7); Par 36-36-72.

    -----------------

16/02/2020, Port Fairy GC, Vic Champs Rd 2

Less than two hours sleep, and maybe still drunk when starting round two. The driver went back to its form from the Friday, rather than the good hitting on Saturday, so it meant a bit of ball chasing off the tee. The worst stretch off the tee was 14-16 where I managed only one point from three shot holes, and even that took a great save; considering that I had just parred the four previous holes, it was a big fall. I played the par 5 18th with a three iron off the tee, because I had completely lost faith in my swing with the woods, but continued to hit irons well; maybe I should have switched earlier. I don't remember hitting a bad putt all day either. Still, a 30 point stableford score is as good as I could have expected heading into the weekend.

    Score: PBPPBbBBX PPPPXXXPP; 42-44-86 (+14); Par 36-36-72
