    Default February Round

Fellow South Strayans,I'm keen to lock in a February Round. Are there any dates which do/don't suit people? I was thinking the weekend of the 8th/9th as a starting date. Was originally thinking Blackwood as it appears in decent condition ATM but happy for alternate suggestions.. Blackwood is $50 for Sunday green fees.

Update: Sunday the 9th not available due to a function at the course. No social groups allowed on the course on Sundays before 11am.

    Proposed Date and Time:
Sunday the 23rd of February at 11am off the 10th hole

There are two putting greens - one by the first tee (road side of the clubhouse), one by the 10th tee (next to the pro shop).

    Could be confusing........

They definitely run a comp on Sundays. It's my first game in 6+ weeks so might give that a miss. In saying that though we could have both a comp and a hit & giggle group

I wont be treating it more serious than a social hit just because I'm the comp I want the round to knock a flag out (3 in next 4) so I can get out to double digits and get shots on most Par 5's

I've just received confirmation that I'm definitely required for our last home pennants match this Sunday and as a win will definitely set us up for the finals, I'm unfortunately out for this.

    Have fun fellas!!

...and with the way we're all going to stripe them we'll be the fastest groups on the course... cough cough.

Thanks for the hit today guys, a pleasure to meet and play a round with you DMG and looking forward to catching up again

Course was absolutely stunning, greens were the fastest I have ever seen them and very true. Fairways very lush, an absolute treat. Also a big fan of the tightly cut green surrounds. So impressed I might make a return trip this coming Friday afternoon (pending work of course)

Gave Kriso's new Scotty a run for the first time today, incredible feel off the face just could not get my alignment and read right but pace was pretty good so plenty to work on this week, new cobra black wedge is great in the sun, zero glare and spins like anything.

Looking forward to the next hit

But great day out see you guys next time

I played at Blackwood a week ago in the seniors on the Monday - yes condition was very good.

Tees, fairway, bunkers and greens were excellent, and a better coverage in the rough than you would expect.
The fairway coring has worked a treat, with previously thin fairways like #5 being as good as you could expect.
Similarly, the 'new holes' on 10 to 14 with Windsor couch were decent - which happens once the grass roots get to dirt rather than dead thatch.

Surrounds are a little off - there are plans but the right time of year is needed to attack these.

Collective - I think the greens are being cored today and tomorrow. If not, it is next week. I would check before heading there on Friday.
The greens will appreciate the coring and top dressing. There is thatch, but I must say the surfaces of the greens, the mix of bent and poa and the abscence of turf stress/disease after the summer we have had is something for the club (and Supt Steve Pellatt) to be proud of.

The fairways are quite narrow, but with a wide first cut. I suspect the members quite like that. I'd prefer a bi more width of fairway, but accept that the members probably have what they want to enable a tight course to be playable.

I understand membership applications hve been going well - renewals come up on 1 April, hopefully all continues to improve.

I had a walkover in the end on Sunday. Played 3 holes to make it official and then went on the piss waiting for the rest of the team to come in. After 30 holes the day before, the guy did me the biggest favour ever! The course looks mint. I do feel like I missed out.

Thanks for sharing the pics BYU.

Thanks everyone for the hit and to Coopers making the long trip from Port Augusta.
Great to catch up with new addition DMG. Hope you enjoyed yourself and our company and can join us for many more rounds.
What a cracking a day for it and the course is in fantastic condition. As quick as the greens were it's scary to think I've played them much quicker than that putting balls off the greens on 3 occasions from long range to holes near the edges that day.
Thanks BYU for capturing the moment I was desperately trying to find my 5 shot old 2nd new ProV1 after losing one on the first tee shot of the day. In the interest of faster play I tried to lay up short of the water rather than blast it down the fairway of the next hole at the slow group of ladies.
Got my name on the NTP of the 8th and sank the birdie after a full lap of honor.
