    Default February Round

Fellow South Strayans,I'm keen to lock in a February Round. Are there any dates which do/don't suit people? I was thinking the weekend of the 8th/9th as a starting date. Was originally thinking Blackwood as it appears in decent condition ATM but happy for alternate suggestions.. Blackwood is $50 for Sunday green fees.

Update: Sunday the 9th not available due to a function at the course. No social groups allowed on the course on Sundays before 11am.

    Proposed Date and Time:
Sunday the 23rd of February at 11am off the 10th hole

    1. Flavzz
    2. TC
    3. Waza
    4. BYU
    5. Hatchy
    6. DMG
    7. CC
    8. Hard Pan (Very light pencil)
    9.

Where you staying CC? If you're fairly central and want a decent cheap round, I would recommend Regency Park. By about 10am, the Sat comp would be in it's tail end. They'll let you on maybe off the 5th. It's a 9 holer but the greens are good and the fairways have good even coverage. West Beach is another reasonable track but it will be bog slow on a Saturday. The executive course next door might be the go.

Right by the city centre you've got North Adelaide. Played pennants there last Sunday. It was in pretty good condition, greens were very true so lots of long putts to be had. Just stupid busy on a Saturday morning. There's the north course but that's a bit of a goat track in places. OK ish I guess at a stretch.

South, my pick would be the Vines, Thaxted and then Flagstaff Hill.

North, you've got Tea Tree Gully is a clear winner but will probably be too busy Sat morning. Further north you've got Playford Lakes which is a not bad 9 holer. Mawson Lakes if you have to (but I'd stay away).

You're welcome at my track, Royal North Haven but I'll be busy with club champs.

    Good luck.

Saturday rounds at the southern venues HP mentions can be next to impossible as they are normally fully booked out with the members Saturday Comps, (The Vines lasts most of the day)

Again depending on where you're staying, southern courses you can generally rely on for a Saturday round are Mt Compass, Lady Bay and Wirrina, (or whatever it is called these days!?)

No chance TTG next Sat morning, packed to the rafters.

There's a very small gap on the south course at north Adelaide on Saturday at 9:50, otherwise you'd get on after 1pm (but be prepared for a slow round in the afternoon). Don't bother with the north course unless you can't get on anywhere else. At this stage I can't get a leave pass for a saturday round as well as the Sunday.

Staying in Glenelg, thanks guys that seems like plenty of options I’ll see what I can do , 9.50 would be pushing it I would have to leave by 5.30 am not that that’s really a problem I’m not the best at getting around the city google maps will be my guide lol

I forgot to mention, you've got Marion Park just down Brighton Road from Glenelg. It's a bit of a goat track (all on the side of a hill), but, it's the easiest to get to from Glenelg (after West Beach), and you'll be sure to get a game there.

Wirrina is now called 'New Terry'.

I would be playing a 10 round split as 5 Lady Bay, 5 Mt Compass and 0 New Terry. That may be harsh.

It is 45 minutes to an hour south of Glenelg though Bob.

Westward Ho = West Beach - as per my post above, will be very busy Saturday morning but the executive course might be available.

Worst case you can walk along the beach and perve at all the bikini clad women - well according to the advert from 1973!

I've been told to look out for the group milling around the guy with a dark floppy hat and loud pants... is that accurate? Anywhere specific at the club we'll be meeting and what preferred time? Given I know none of you yet just wanting to make sure I'm in the right place at the right time.

Don't want to miss out on any of the slicing.

Sounds about right to me maybe I should wear my red jacket?

I haven't played Blackwood before, but if you stand around looking lost near the pro shop or practice green I'm sure we'll find you. Alternatively you could wear something equally loud and tell us what to look out for.

We will be mingling around the front of the proshop. I will probably be there about 45 minutes before tee off.

That will be me. Look for Black Pirahna Golf Bucket Hat and Loud Pants
I normally get to the courses 45-30min before hit off times and will either be poking around in the Pro Shop or on the practice stabbing green.

DMG: when you arrive at Blackwood there are two distinctive hang out areas with the main building separating the two.

the first tee block and practice putting green are to the lower right section near the entrance.

the pro shop and 10th tee block are up in the hilly part of the car park on the left hand side of the building. that is where we will be being that the 10th tee is our first hole.

Both left and right are facing the golf course front on

Hatchy is easy to locate with those distinctive fancy pants. If you see a fat bastard eyeing up some food and working on his putting stroke that will be me

    Looking forward to Sunday

Cheers lads... looking forward to it!

I'll be the nervous looking cat with a grey Ping cap and a long sleeve white polo on... I'll find you lot. I'll also aim for 45-30 mins before as I haven't swung in a few weeks so some practice will be in order!

Apparently it makes perfect Waza... but I'm yet to be convinced.
