Expect the use of several new tees too, like 15(?) for example. They played 2x US Opens on the same course 2 weeks in a row and it worked fine. No reason why this wouldn’t? Good thinking outside the box- hard to do for the tour.
Agree they’re making the best of it. The slower greens opening up more pinnable locations and moving the tees more than usual could be interesting. I’m a bit confused by them cutting the rough down the first week then having longer rough the secondly week. How much can it grow in 4 days?
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

It’s the PGA Tour remember. It’ll be longer, not necessarily long.

    Another highly entertaining golf tournament.

I couldn't see any difference in the play to previous events at Muirfield Village, except the 14th, I suppose. Although, as an alllegedly risk/reward driveable par 4, there was too much risk and not enough reward. Even though Morikawa hit a great shot that helped him win the tournament, not many were actually going for it, and those who did mostly paid the price.

That hole, from its normal tee, might be a problem next week. There were tons of divots in the layup landing area, and with the entire field playing to the same spots there will be a lot more. It might be time to raise again the free drop out of an obvious divot debate.

The ESPN report I read suggested the course would somehow be firmed up for next week. I don't think it is a course designed for that, so if it does there might be an awful lot of irons off the tees, and less than exciting golf. Still, Tiger is playing, so we'll all be watching (except for the haters on this site).

I wonder how much Tiger playing effect golfers ability to score in comps. For me I will watch him and attempt some of his shotmaking and fail and score worse for it.

Michael Thompson wins the 3M Open after his last win at the 2013 Honda Classic, a gap of 2702 days. Not just a long awaited win but also tour status for the next 2 years plus jumping to 39th in FedEx standings, entry into US Open at Winged Foot and this week's WGC - St Jude's..

For the Aussies, Cameron Davis finished T12 (-14) and Aaaron Baddeley shot -7 in the final round to finish T22. If not for a 2nd round 73 (66/69/64 in other rounds), he would have contended..

Love when the "grinders" on tour win. Brendon Todd, Lanto Griffin, Michael Thompson etc..

Onto Barracuda at Mt. Tahoe Club in California for the rest of the tour and WGC - St. Jude's at TPC Memphis Tennessee for the top tier. Should be a great week for prep for US PGA Championship the week after.

I am in Melbourne and without a doubt golf on tv and the ability to play golf during stage 3 has been a life saver/marriage saver..

Are you playing with a mask and if so how is it?

Hi @flathook. Yes, with a mask. Bloody uncomfortable but I slide it off to my chin when I am ready to hit a shot and then have it back on throughout. I have played a few rounds by myself as well so have had it around my neck/chin area once I am beyond the pro shop (cheeky yes I know).

Play at Yarra Bend locally (they only allow 9 holes) and also played 18 at Ivanhoe last week so getting out there every single day. Played 5 holes today in between 2 yr old going for an afternoon nap and waking up (about 90mins)..lol

I'd argue ur not much further along, if at all, after winning in the US. You've just proved you can drive it long, hit a wedge and putt

I'm not as excited as Will Ferrell that its major time, but with the golf having been pretty good since the break, it should be worth watching.

Sadly, my betezy account has no money in it, and I was hoping a bonus bet might come my way, but no. So I have no financial interest, and I haven't looked at the odds.

But, for the record, I'll predict one of Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas or for value Hideki Matsuyama as the winner. Obviously many of the other in-form big boys can win without surprising. If Tiger wins, with his total lack of any on-course prep, that will be a surprise.

Cracks me up. Bryson snaps his driver during play at the PGA and a "member of his team"runs to his car to get another shaft.

"Team?". Whats next. Even Tiger didnt have a team to help him when he famously only had one ball left during his record US Open win at Pebble.

Why was he allowed to replace it? I thought the rule was that the damaged club could continue to be used or repaired but still had to use the original grip, shaft and clubhead.

He apparently lent over on it to pick his tee up and snapped the head off. Accidental cause was the decision made by the officials.

I believe there's a local rule in play allowing replacement of clubs that are damaged in the process of playing a shot (i.e., if he snapped it over his knee he wouldn't have been able to replace the shaft)

If he continues to put on weight (muscle mass) I suspect this won't be the last time this happens. He is huge
