All pending if beefcakes can hit it straight this week.
Heard someone commenting that his putting stats have improved but hitting wedge in compared to 7 iron would help that.

TV doesn't do justice how much slope is on those greens at Augusta. The Masters winner most often comes from the one that putts the best over the week while having enough drives in play to hit enough greens in reg to turn some of that good putting into red numbers. That can be said for just about any Tournament but it tends to stand out more in the Masters.

You have hit the nail on the head Hatch, a lot of them are almost Barnbougle type slopes and with the speed they run them at, putting is the key.
You also have to know where you need to hit your ball onto the green and also where you can miss them.
The whole course is way more undulating than you can see on TV, it is a real eye opener when you see it live.

Everyone focuses on his (DeChambeau's) increased distance, but yes, his putting has improved out of sight in the last 12 months too. His wedge play is probably his main deficiency, and that could make a difference - getting on the right areas on the greens at Augusta is a big deal.

According to my Kayo home screen, it seems we have the full Masters coverage on multiple channels. Which means Amen Corner, 15 and 16, plus featured groups, in addition to the normal TV coverage.

More interesting for the night owls such as myself, Amen Corner starts at 1130pm, and the others by 1200, while the regular broadcast doesn't start until 0500 tomorrow morning. So there will be stuff to watch all night if we want to watch it.

For the record, I'll predict Bryson will play well, but he won't win. While distance is always a good thing, it isn't essential at Augusta. The 5's are reachable anyway, so ball placement, putting and scrambling are just as important. It is being Captain Obvious to say this, but a guy who does everything well for 4 days is the one most likely to win. Someone like Zander, Webb Simpson, Tyrrell Hatton or my favourite Patrick Reed.

Oh, and go Jordan Spieth! (just for Benno_R's benefit).

Word on the street is he has been working with Butch Harmon. I'd be dropping the house on him....

But shooting -5 at par 72 is so much better than even at par 67.

If someone shoots 4 67s they'll win the masters.

I believe he hit his 2nd into the bushes on the left, then hit a provisional into the creek, then found his original, chunked it 5 metres, then didn't get up and down.

Yeah, greens were really soft after the rain in the morning. Tiger playing really well off the tee, Scott playing well with some nice work around the greens. JT going well.

DeChambeau actually did pretty well to shoot 70 given some of the trouble he got into off the tee. I can see him going low if he sorts his driver out.

Looks like it absolutely bucketed down this morning, but the forecast for the rest looks alright. Some guys will be playing 27 holes tomorrow, which could be either a good thing or a bad thing I guess.

DaShampoo -2 on the Leader Board but +2 by his "there are no Par 5's at Augusta".
Heaps of rain going to make the greens softer and easier hold for making red numbers.
