    Default Ozgolf Snowboarding!!

Just finished my third trip to the snows and second trip boarding and I think I'm hooked !!! Question, has anyone been boarding at Perisher, Threbo and Mount Hotham or any other snow in Australia, which one do u prefer to board at and why?

I like Thredbo cos their runs are easy to get to and most runs lead to a pub. I disliked Perisher as there are too many trails to get to runs which are really difficult for beginner to intermediate snowboarders.

No snow north of the Tweed River. Too dear for me otherwise.

+1. I don't think the night before helped my cause though.

Snowboarded at Perisher a few times, but not at any of the others so have nothing to compare to.

    Hey Courty

If you do go again, as a boarder I recommend Thredbo over Perisher as it has longer runs and easier to access the runs.

Perisher is more runs, but they are shorter and a little more difficult to get to.

I've don't a little more research and the Victorian snow fields are all smaller than either Thredbo or Perisher so I'm going to stick with Thredbo and Perisher.

A mate of mine goes boarding every year, but now goes to Japan in early January. He reckons that if you go for 10 days or more it works out cheaper there than in Australia. And the snow is far better, and there are something like 1,500 ski fields to chose from.

I love Japan anyway so boarding in Japan is is definitely on the list!!

Boarding in Australia can be not too expensive if you book in advance and get the deals. Scoopon had a deal those year for 2 nights accommodation and 2 days lift passes for $200, but that was later in the season and the accommodation was very basic.

As it was 22 degrees in Talbingo yesterday, I trust there isn't much snow left.

I can confirm. I went with said mate to Furano (Hokkaido) and had a ball. The snow was HEAPS better than anything I've experienced in Perisher, and although it was late in the season and new snow was getting scarce, there was still plenty of powder in the un-groomed areas.

Here's my favourite video from the trip (so far, still waiting on footage from some mates):

    Nice snow Courty.

We went to the ClubMed resort in Tomamu Japan. I was a little apprehensive as ClubMed in Europe when I was growing up was akin to the Contiki tours!

My eldest loves the snow but my wife and youngest wanted something else to do as well, and there was a massive indoor swimming pool centre on site.

Everything was included including lessons/guiding apart from ski hire (we hired in Australia as it was much cheaper). The food and accommodation were fantastic and the powder snow was better than anything I'd boarded on in Europe, would highly recommended a trip to Japan for any keen boarder.

Cheers Wools. One of the options with our Furano ski pass was a one-day swap to either Tomamu or Kamui Links. We had talked about heading to Tomamu but didn't bother in the end as we had it so good where we were.

When the snow is good (which it appears to be pretty often) in that area you are really spoilt for choice.

The boarding through the trees was amazing.

Just spent 8 days in Jindabyne and was lucky enough to get tickets for 7 days of boarding. Conditions weren't great when we got there but got a massive dump on Monday with around 30cms of snow down to Jindabyne!!

First photo was in Jindabyne on Monday, the second one was Perisher on Sunday.
