    Re: Matchplay

If Boots calls himself an interstater and Nadg plays for just fun/comp we have ourselves a 7 on 7 matchplay

If not Boots who else (from SA) would call themselves an interstater?

What do you suggest as an alternative (with a team of 7 players)? we are already playing stableford...

But hasn't the Kitchener Cup usually been played to a match play format .......... !?

And what has been decided re teams? Reading all the above the groups below would seem to be the go!?

Interstate - Ferrins, Ploppy Pat, Nudgee, Peppas, Mr White, Jono, BobsYourUncle

SA - Hatchman, The Collective, Flavzz, Marcel, Coopers Country, Boots, Wazamac,

If we don't want to play match play the only other option I can see is to add up Stableford scores from each team.

We added stableford one year before. The year Jim Bob was the only interstater.

And who put my name down on the teams. Haha.
Give me 18 points now and I'll meet you at dinner.

Kitchener Cup has been played 3 yrs now with every year being a different format.
Year 1 at Victor was Match Play
Year 2 at the Vines was a 4BB with teams score added for total pts.
Year 3 at Balckwood was the massive wash out with a Hybrid format having to be invented after half the participants pulled out either before the game or during the game.
Year 4 there was no champs

The best and really only way to lock in a permanent Format is everyone plays individual Stableford and the teams scores are averaged. This will cater for odd numbers and not having exactly even numbers from each side in groups is not necessary.
Numbers in teams to be balanced with a random draw from the larger pool to balance the other side where there is a big difference.
I will start a separate thread for all Kitchener Cup Discussion.

If even teams aren't needed I'd prefer to play on the SA side.

Nothing like match play to get your heart rate up. Being 6 down at the turn and coming back to square the match at this years Vic champs will always be one of my best golfing moments... (sorry JoeS) 😉

Averaging total team score sounds so ... average.
