Has the train track been there for long?

One of my low duck hook drives could do some damage to a passing train ... 😬

It’ll do more damage to your 5 iron when you have to play off the rocks between the rails

And the train only runs, I think, every hour, so unlikely to see when on the 2nd.

about every 30 minutes, and you don't play when the train is about.

It is a single set of tracks - two stops to the end of the line.
Train goes to the beach, and 10 minutes later it is coming back the other way.

In the clubhouse you can see pictures from when there was a 'golflinks' train stop, with old steam trains.
The platform/stop has gone, and the trains are now diesel.
They were going to be electrified in the 1920's, leading to the club getting MacKenzie to come and re-route the course to get rid of crossing holes.
Course got fixed, and 10 years later the government shelved the electrification and went diesel!

By the way, the line is an integral part of the course. Ozgolfers in previous championships have had to play from the train tracks - it is a near impossible shot but a lot of fun.

I believe the Saturday round will now also double up as the Kitchener Cup - handing that over to Hatchman and TC!?

Went through a heap of clothes the other day, the jacket is looking a bit dusty, might get it dry cleaned before the event

Can someone direct me to a thread that explains what a Kitchener Cup is? As a SA Champs newbie, I’d like to brush up on its history before I attend.

The Kitchener Cup is a Visitor v Locals team game.
It’s been played in a number of different formats over its time depending on numbers at the Champs.
The one thing that remains the same, the winners get the Kitcheners.

    Only 4 weekends away now.
Time for me to start working out the NTP and Long Drive holes for each day and get the cards made up to go with the markers.

    Playing Saturday now.
Not scoring and will see if I have had enough by the second hole.
Definitely not playing Sunday, not wasting that much on a swing like mine but may just go for a walk.

I have no more room in the car, + the only bed left at Victor is a child size (complete with 1980's Star Wars original sheets)

Easy to be consistent when you hit your driver 5 iron distance
