You obviously had a bad day.
You obviously had a bad day.
Here is a new option from out of left field, australias 'most' northern golf course.
Raffles Golf Club Bali is now affiliated with WA golf, so its members get a handicap. Cost is $50pa and $100 joining fee.
An added benefit is cheap golf on all Bali courses, downside, surely there is no insurance included in that, I guess.
more info here www.rafflesgolfclub.com i have played with this group before but not for a while. I only know whats on the website.

I ended up joining Thaxted as a twilight member as I wanted the option to play and practice in addition having a cap. Also consider future golf as the current discount offered is pretty hard to beat. https://futuregolf.com.au/join/?gcli...IaAnQmEALw_wcB

Enjoy my weekends. Yes, I feel I made the right choice.
I would consider twilight membership but finishing at 7 or 8 pm not suit
Once you go yellow, you will never go back
Playford Lakes (old North Lakes Golf Club) $75 for handicap maintained.
They would lose money with that deal.
It doesn't mention being able to retain a hcp with that class of membership.
I wouldn't assume it's not possible to either at that cost after to speaking with the Captain at Balaklava and talking about where I'm playing now and what it it costs me. We were having the discussion as they were thinking of offering alternative Memberships for people outside a certain town radius that can't or don't want to play every week. There's a Golf Aust fee for each Member to have and maintain a hcp and I suspect it's more than $75 for that.

I'm a member there and it is $75 which I get my handicap maintained for a year.
Yeah looks that way. No playing rights at all. Marion does something similar for $110 ($145 in first year)
North Adelaide looks like it might have something similar too but it’s kinda hard to tell what’s NAGC (who have an awful website) and what’s the public course (which claims to have a season competition pass which comes with handicap and a few rounds for $199)
I can answer NAGC questions, although I did hear we weren't accepting new members at the moment.
NAGC (the club) is separate to the course, so club membership doesn't include any green fees (you pay that separately). I don't know what the "social" membership covers though.
With the imminent golf Australia announcement coming I'd hold out in case golf restrictions are imposed.

Eacg state and district fees vary and also which insurance level is taken up by the club.
City GC is $89 total, the insurance included is $20, which must be the premium option.
Of the breakup, the State takes the most.
SC stopped offering a PAYG membership option, I can't justify a traditional club membership only playing 15-20 rounds a year.
I don't know much of the costs of maintaining members at a club but on the GolfAustralia website it says to maintain GolfLink it is only $2.77ex GST per member.
I'd assume there'd be various other fees involved ie Affiliation & Insurance
But in saying that, a couple years before they had only been charging $50 so they must be breaking even at least.
I did a further look into figures
Golf Australia affiliation fees are ~$60 incl GST
Members Insurance ~$10 incl GST
GolfLink access $3.05 incl GST
For a grand total of $73.05..... Obviously not in it for profiting.

Interesting but not surprising that Sandy Creek have shot themselves in the foot and dropped the PAYG Membership. I can almost picture the Committee meeting where one of the numpties convinced the others that if they drop the PAYG everyone on it will change over to full memberships. This is typical of the narrow minded thinking.
It's not the Membership Fee itself that makes them money it every time some one on that deal pays Green Fees that does. If you don't have them as members your not going to get their repeat Green Fees. The Membership helps them decide to play there most or all of the time rather than going all over the place spending their money.
It's also a low level entry point that gives the Club a chance to convert the member into a Full Member down the track as long as you have a good welcoming atmosphere. Sadly a group of people got themselves onto the committee and destroyed all of that with personal agendas.
I did a bit of trawling of the Playford Lakes site and noticed a couple of names in the Comp results I used to play with fairly regularly at Kapunda. It would be good to catch up with them a see why they are not playing there anymore as no matter what Membership category they have they are paying near double to play at Playford Lakes.
