I'd say less than 20-30 min would be considered close. I'm sure other states will have their own definition.

I see this this as 15-20min.
Adelaide is a bit easier to get around than most capitals so most of the time you can travel a lot further in that time than others.

Haha, pace notes not required for those two - Mannum and Mount Pleasant were a different matter

make sure you're comparing apples with apples tho - for example i don't think the lady bay prices include the various levies. Do the prices given above?

    Haha

It's okay for the likes of me that finish at 2-2.30pm The convenience factor is a big factor even though I well know The Vines course is in much better condition!

With something like that Gailes membership, when to play at other courses will they know you're on some "special" membership? And what's the story at most courses with regards to playing as a visitor? Only Sundays etc? I've given up my club membership twice when I just couldn't get out there enough, barely once a month. But a membership like that to keep my hc, and playing 6 or 7 times a year could be on the cards. I wouldn't care about higher green fees to play in comps. I'd play socially but it's hard to get a weekend social game in around all the comps, plus having no one to play with.

Gailes was one of the golf clubs that used to knock people back with the "handicap maintenance" membership, but I haven't had trouble with other venues. However, I don't have much recent experience.

If you can get a hold of a fixture book for courses (some have them online), then they will usually say if it is an open comp or not. Nearly all comps at Wolston Park were open, except honour board events, from memory.

Membership cards have the class of membership written on them, so that when you visiting another golf club, and taking up a concession such as playing in the comp as a guest, you can show this as evidence of your entitlement.

Most starters now dont seem to care though as long as the GolfLink number you recite to them is accepted.

Yeah, I'll have to give Gailes a call and have a chat. I wouldn't care of it cost full social green fees, at least I'd still get out every month or so, which is all I was getting when a full member. Would probably mix my courses up a bit more though; maybe even get in more than one course per year!

I didn't have a membership card with Social Golf Australia, and haven't got one with Gailes either.

Are you happy enough with Gailes Andy? I might join there too. Mainly interested in having an occasional hit in a Sunday open comp at Nudgee/Gailes/Wynnum etc...
