So I'm looking for a handicap only rather than joining a club at this stage. I was considering Social Golf Australia who do it for $95 a year. Has anyone used them? Suggestions for any others are welcome.

I use them. No problems.
Thanks mate. Might be the go I think.

Sandy creek golf club are doing a pay as you play membership atm.
$99 gets you GA handicap, 7 day rights, 15 rounds a year @ $30 then reverts to normal price after that.

Great deal. Me and my brother have both signed up recently.
Better to support a local club then in the pocket of some online club.
Course conditioning isn't where it should be due to a "busted pipe" spilling 5mil litres of water during dec/jan. With the recent rain, it is getting a lot better but still a long way to go.
@Hatchy, PM me who they are, maybe they have left?
I looked into this a little bit as being able to retain a Hcp is something I'd like to do without having the costly club membership that 1. Does not fit my Budget and 2. I wont get any value out of only playing a hand full of games a year.
With what Wenz posted and looking at another similar option where HardPan on this forum plays I've broken it up into some Pros and Cons
Social Golf Australia
Cost of $95 a year and pay agreed/arranged Green Fee rate for each game.
Pros
$95
Golf Link Hcp that can be used to play Comp anywhere
Cons
One game a month on a set date with the S.A arm (no compulsory)
No home course
Sandy Creek
Cost of $99 a year and pay agreed/arranged Green Fee rate for each game.
Pros
$99
Golf Link Hcp that can be used to play Comp anywhere
A 18 hole home course
Can chose what day you want to play
Course is of a good standard
Cons
I wont put in my own personal issue here so I can't see any real Con apart from maybe location/travel but for limit use is it an issue?
North Haven Golf Club (Hard_Pans Home)
Cost of $110 a year and pay agreed/arranged Green Fee rate for each game. (hope this is correct as taken from web)
Pros
$110
Golf Link Hcp that can be used to play Comp anywhere
A home course
Can chose what day you want to play
Someone off the Forum is a Member
Cons
Course & condition not in the same league as Sandy Creek (sorry HP, not meant to offend)
Maybe location/travel but for limit use is it an issue?
I wonder if there are any deals like the Sandy Creek deal in Qld. I am currently without a handicap, as I won't need it until I play a comp, so I'm open to options.
Can you do some research for me too, Hatchy?
Not Qld Andy, but Mullumbimby has a $120 annual deal. You could play there while visiting your dealer?
Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
Do you know who TC?
Bulimba Golf Club has a weekend membership for $205 including handicap and is affiliated with the BDGA.

There is igolf Qld as well for $150.

The golf course is probably helping to keep that club afloat.
I looked around at a few Brisbane options.
Gailes Golf 101 - $99
The website says that it is a restricted membership, but you have to call for details.
I would expect that there are little to no additional benefits to the SGA membership. Maybe access to the Saturday timesheet, if it something that is currently restricted.
Oxley - $300
Full Seven Day access, on-going discounted green fees and Competition Fees charged at Member rates. Sat - $40 + comp fee. Other - $27 + comp fee.
Too much for the amount that I play.
Ashgrove - $300
Includes 12 pre-paid rounds, with the option to buy another 6 for $100 if you use them all.
Interesting, but I don't know if I would want to play Ashgrove that many times in one year. I'm not even playing 12 rounds in total at the moment.
Its the other way around
Luke is way out there with his thinking for getting more revenue for the golf club, who would have thought of hosting an NRL team on a driving range, and then pulled it off. He has also got a DA approved for a conference centre and hotel
That's gotta be the best option, affiliation fees are around $70+ per annum now, so unlikely to find a cheaper deal.Gailes Golf 101 - $99
and at least no club you visit will treat you like a scab
Hyatt Coolum has AFL and NRL games on its range over 20 years ago.
I'll keep looking around. It might be just as easy to stay with SGA, as it doesn't follow a set membership year either. It is nice to see some clubs providing some more flexible options now. Carbrook seemed to be on the ball with their offering.
