    Wednesday Stableford at Maryborough.

Started poorly, to be 3 points after 3 holes. Then remembered how to play, shooting 37. Putted the lights out, sank 2 30+ foot putts on 15 and 2 (played back 9 first).

As usual, F9 is killing it, but iron play still a bit patchy.

    19/18 37
    2 birds
    2 doubles
    Rest pars and bogies.

Maybe it's time to keep it simple.

Now where is my copy of The Golf Machine.

Bipolar golf at its finest ... 8 wipes in a par round.

But 7 pluses nicely countered those and helped get us to +12 in the 2bbb.

Scored well without hitting the ball well at all. After pumping drive of the day down the last made the mistake of saying “Gee I’m scoring well hitting it like a busted arse”.

With 90m to go I shanked it into the green side pot before 3 putting for a double and a wipe.

First round of beaconhills handicap matchplay ( qualified last week )off the back plates in lovely hills weather . Had to give opponent 13 shots , only three over after nine but 2 down in match , all square after 12 dropped 13 and 16 but won 14, 15 17 and 18 to win 2 up . Twelve pars six bogeys for 77 ots , 5 of 6 bogies came from poor chipping, the other was a 3 putt

Second round of champs, blowing a massive gale. Shot 78, I managed to extend the l lead, out to 12 now with one round left.

Played OK, wind was not fun at all. Funny thing is I had 3 more GIR today than my first round 71, about 10 more putts.

Boring old 36 today, but a 3,000,000 knot southerly made it tough. Drove like a drunk pirate but some really good up and downs.

Chopped around for last round of clubbies. Had 79 with 13 GIR and 38 putts (greens very quick and bumpy, not much fun!)

    Won by 10.

Played consistent 18/18 for 36 off 13hdcp today with 3 blown holes.
    Putting was good.
Driver was ordinary with good shot being good but bad shots goes really bad.
Using the 3&5 wood and 4&5 hybrids today.... hit them well but guess had a brain fart near end with big tops off my 5 wood.

Finally back on the competition course after 3 months away. Thats what happens when you get skin cancer cuts in your back, and other complications.

I had low expectations, but I played really well for 37 points.

In a way it was a depressing preview of genuine seniors golf, because soft fairways and green surrounds meant the ball was going nowhere once it hit the ground. So any par 4 over 350 was out of reach, and the 3 wood was the club of choice more often than not. Apart from a few putts not dropping, this was just about the best score I could have shot, but gee it was hard work.
"There are 50 things to remember in the golf swing. Trouble is that I can only remember 49 of them" - Bob Hope.
