Thanks Hatchman , is what I was planning, plus I identify/ target holes where if it were stableford he gets a shot and I don’t especially if he doesn’t in the matchplay. They are win holes and I am not to loose them . I also identify holes where in stableford we both get a shot but in this I don’t, they are halve holes and try not to loose too many .
The way I have been playing there aren’t any positives , but I do agree , A half decent drive on the first and a passable chip if I have to on the first and I will be ok and in the match . Even if I three putt on the first I will think that at least I have got it out of my system early
You play to your strengths on the course.
You play directly against your opponent.
Strictly “play against the course” is advice you give your mate playing in his first match play ever.
Remember your good shots, no way should you be thinking 3 putt on the first! Are you playing at home? If so you should have plenty of good memories for most places you will find yourself on a hole, think of the times you have got up and down, or holed the putt you are standing over.
You just play the way you normally would, unless there is a blindingly obvious reason not to. The aim of the game is still to get the ball in the hole in the least shots possible and if your opponent gets in for less then so be it. If your opponent hits one Oscar Bravo he can still make a bogey.
Forum needs more banter.
Thanks for all the advice , 21 points in Thursday’s comp wasn’t giving me much confidence . Would have been about 34 points today , giving 13 shots to guy who has just started coming out of a form slump was just a bit too much . I went down, 1 down , was 2 down twice got to 1 up after 15 , had to give shots on 16,17,18 lost 16 17 halved 18 30 foot birdie needed another inch on 18!, looked good for a longtime. Didn’t 3 putt didn’t blade or duff any chips only left two a bit short ( 16 ,17 )worked out what was wrong with the driver but still a bit inconsistent so some positives
A 20 marker coming out of a form slump?

Genuine question: Is it commonplace for 10% of a Saturday comp's tee spots to be reserved for Pennant practice? I've not personally encountered this before, and only just realised when I went looking into why I was unable to get a game this weekend. What makes it even stranger is that it is an Honour Board event.
I've never seen it before. I would have thought that the practice would be on Sundays, since that is when pennant is played. The Virginia guys were having a practice session at Jindalee on the Sunday just gone.
Team bonding. They probably got on the piss afterwards too.
At le royale, a couple of groups in each of the am/pm sat field eill be put aside for pennant players during pennant season, but open up on Thursday evening.
