[QUOTE=markTHEblake;1402387]to be honest i doubt that, but I also doubt your story is the way the other manager reported it too, maybe he faked the call?(not saying you have twisted the story, you may not be privy to all info Unfortunately I wasn’t privy to your knowledge/ experience at the time . The other manager made the call , I could see him and could hear bits of the conversation and what was being left out and assumed he would hand the phone to me and I would give my side of the story . However he just hung up and said they had been awarded the match . When I checked with the manager of our weekend pennant team he basically said what you have said , so as a start of an appeal process I rang the vgl official the next morning , his reply went “ oh I thought there must have been something riding on it ( ie the overall win ) bit more conversation he then tells me he isn’t the vgl rules official , even tho he did give a ruling but it’s now too late to appeal . Muppet !!!!!Slow play at a vgl event ( medal of the medallist’s ) gave em a second chance and represented Olinda , stroke event group of 4 , handicaps 12, 14 26 32 , no one had played the course . Three groups of 3 in front of us , I was only one playing to cap ,two high markers where playing badly lots of doubles and triples , we dropped off the group in front as said a 3 on the 12 th , but were well ahead of the group behind ( almost a full hole ) , vgl officials waiting for us on 13 th green got stuck into us over slow play , one of the officials then escorted us the rest of the way telling us to hurry up ,26 marker put 4 balls into water on 14 and five on 15 , I snap hooked one in on 14 , 32 marker put a couple in , both of them posted double figure scores on both holes , I had my first double, drinks cart drove past me on 16 th and said you’re wo ****ing holes behind get a ****ing move on , halfway down the 18 th offical asks me what time we teed off , “10.30” looks at his watch does calculations says “4.5 hrs for the round not bad “ walks off . He had actually slowed us down because of all the lost balls etc shots etc , we finished two holes in front of the group behind us , from what I could see they weren’t spoken to and certainly weren’t escorted for the last four or five holes . I know you are suppose to keep up with the group in front before anyone tells me but I still think it was over the top and that they are muppets!!!! To rub salt in I dropped 4 shots to cap over those holes and the winner beat me by four shots muppets!!!!!

Undoubtedly, if that drinks cart guy had stopped he would have found out just how grumpy I can get

(not saying you have twisted the story, you may not be privy to all info either)

Interesting. In Gold Coast pennant, the conditions of competition is that the host club provides match official/referee/starter for the day. I would have assumed this is fairly standard practice.

for your mob, not even wanting to do it by phone is really unusual, especially for cheating. I know many rulings have been made by a player ringing the clubhouse from the course.

Stuff like this shits me, don't get me started.
The guy that was involved in the situation just got pissed off and walked away after the confrontation.

Ended up that the injured back guy is out, lack of confidence is out as well. With the captain being away we’ve got a real mixed bag this week.

Quite entertaining really.... I was up all day and felt in control so I never bothered pulling him up on it. I figure it'll come back to bite him in the butt someday soon. In fact it's likely we will play them in the final in a few weeks time (providing we hold our final home game next week) so as captain I will tell whoever plays him to watch out for that as it could be a handy "instant win of hole"
I take it all back Muscles. You guys are great at home and deserving finalists!

LtodLostay 3&2.Problems with putting today, greens were slower than a sloth with no legs.Playing opponent got every free drop from obstruction(4 times)once again I got stymied by everything.Fighting spirit wasn't in it,I just rolled over and accepted the loss.I did have to give up 3 shots on their home course

Tim played today.I think one of the things I am trying to deal with is watching my cap drop, but still learning how to manage that, then playing pennant against guys who play 2 or 3 times a week and have been playing at the same cap for a long time

Would be good for you to play a couple of matches alongside Tim . All I have done is just go out and try and have 36 pts by forgetting about my cap , just putting the best stroke I can on each shot , being patient and not try and force a score plus minimise the wasteful shots but that’s not easy if you are turning up to Sunday morning pennant with a new cap you haven’t played off

Jesus Christ guys, stop overthinking it.

Turn up, hit a shot, keep an eye on what your opponent is doing, hit your next shot.

One of the side affects of suffering depression and anxiety for me is the inability not to analyse everything. Its a pain in the f....n arse I can tell you, probably why I always look like I am angry when I'm not,and why everything seems to be an effort for me.
A single shot in a cap may not be much, but in my world its like climbing another mountain.
I love seeing players achieve goals, some make it look effortless,I wish that was me

Played Craigieburn at home today as the #1.My opponent hasn't lost in 3 years and was 1 up after 1.I got it back to square on 3 but he got it back 2 holes later and I was 2 down after 10 holes. Then on the 11th(hills 2nd) I smoked a 4iron with a tiny draw to 3 metres off the back tee which led to a win.I then won the next 4 on the trot to be 3 up before dropping a shot on the 6th,then finishing the match 1 hole later with a 3&2 win.Pretty stoked, absolutely flushed my irons on the back 9 and played it 1 over for 7 holes.

I actually said on the 10th tee that I wasn't enjoying pennant,we had a 5 minute Waite on the tee.I just stopped thinking about what my opponent was doing and just tried hitting the ball flush.Bugger me if I didn't get into a rhythm.I actually drove very poorly but my irons and short game was on song on the back 7

Played today... had super fast tricky greens today... struggled with the putting.

Was pretty much 5 down after the first 5 holes. Only managed to half the 6th and won the first hole on the 8th.

Was 4 down after the 14th.

Managed a little comeback to square the round.

Happy with the outcome but was still disappointed with my short games not holding greens when they are fast.

Well done on getting back to a half.Where do you play, our greens are pretty quick, especially if you are putting down hill.I have seen putts from off the back of the 7th roll off the front.

We played at Gosnells GC today

Been playing too many slow greens on public courses with a few mates and I guess I got used to the slow greens.
