    Default Ping G drivers

Looking to try one of these, I think the last one I hit was a g30.

Is there much difference between a G and a G400?

It may not help, but ...

I didn't like the G30, but I have a slow swing speed. It felt like a TM driver and I couldn't keep the ball in the air.

A Ping G SFT has been in the bag for nearly 18 months, and I haven't been looking elsewhere.
(Just behind G20 as my all time favorite.)

It all helps thanks Dotty. I assume the SFT isnt the low spin one, are there 3 types of G?

I've had G30 in 9 & 10.5 and liked them, had the G SFT 10* and didn't like it, now have standard G400 9* and it beats them all by a long way for me. It is my second one of them too as I sold the first and then realised the mistake I had made.

Exact opposite, SFT is latin for 'Sunshine Bus Technology'.

Forgiveness is comparable to the XHot/X2Hot twins. (But I haven't tried much newer stuff, due to the lower spin claims in the adverts.)

p.s. Also have the SFT 3 & 5 woods with the loft dialled up, and are as good as anything for slow swingers.

I find the main difference is sound. Personally, not a big issue, but I know the G30 in particular put some off. I find the SFT versions are super friendly without looking significantly different to the other models. They are fairway finders that are easy to live with if you don't have spin issues. The SFTs are my go to Drivers out of all of my collection. I only have the G400 in LS and I am giving it a run today in the wind. I got to demo a G400 Max a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed. It felt as good as the SFTs, was super friendly and at least as long.

I did a little googling and the sft is draw biased, so probably would be looking for a standard I think. I can probably control the spin by not using a 50 gram shaft, so neutral weighting may be the go.

3balls are having a flash sale on g drivers, be about $350 new delivered. Is that the going rate?

For a hundred or so more you probably can find used G400 around $450...

I've only ever been a fan of the odd Ping driver. The i15 was a particular favourite and the G20 wasn't bad either. I've just recently had the G400 LST and it was a weapon but I've got the G400 MAX in the bag now and I think overall it's the best driver I've ever had. So easy to hit.

Just be mindful of what shaft you put in it. I think (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) the Ping shafts are counterbalanced to offset the heavier heads of Ping G400 drivers. Shafts that aren't counterbalanced may feel strange in the hands. At least that's what I found. The Ping tour 75 stiff is a great shaft.

Yep and the heads are heavier than most other OEMs.
Found that out big time at Cool Clubs fitting.
Takes a while to get used to them.

Still bagging a G LS. It is great and has recently beaten out the G400 Max, G400 LS and M3 among others. I found it to be an upgrade to the 30 exactly along the lines that Ping stated.

The difference will be that quite a few don't like the feel and sound of the G (tho it was a tad better than the 30) where as the G400 has certainly improved the feel and acoustics which was one of their goals. The bigger Max gets back to being a bit tingy.

Great looking G400 9* with the Tour 65S Shaft for $300 right now.

I made the decision to trade my ping g for a clicgear 3.5+.Knowing what I know now about the ping shafts,I would have opted to get a shaft fitting and kept gaming it.

Boom! The G400 LS was an absolute bomb for me today. Barely missed a fairway, and when I did it was because I hit it 30m longer than usual and it ran into the tree line! And I was hitting it a mile in the wind, both with and against.

I hit the G410 last week when the Ping rep dropped in on our pro.

I hit it with a Tensai Orange - was ok, didnt hit it anywhere near as good as the TS3 with a Tensai Blue.

Ive had a few Ping drivers, and I thought this is what I would get, but just didnt feel it.
