    Default EOI - 2020 South-West Victoria Champs

In an effort to get the past weekend out of my head as quickly as possible (and in a plan that was conceived in the wee, wee, weeeeeeeee hours of Saturday morning by blokes who were barely capable of planning how to open the next beer bottle), I give you the EOI for the 2020 Victorian Champs in South West Victoria. That's right Mountain, come to mother-****ing Mohammed!!!!

A very rough outline of plans have been made and if you're coming to my home area, you're coming to MY tour of the area. My home track, my current track, in my opinion the best track in the area and where I was once Club Champ, and the home of the current OWGR no. 17, Marc Leishman that I beat once waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day and have ridden into the ground. And another course. Don't know what yet.

    So roughly we're looking at:
    Thursday - Heywood Golf Club
Friday & UCW - Port Fairy Golf Links
    Saturday - Portland Golf Club
    Sunday - Warrnambool Golf Club
    Monday - ????

Costs will be super cheap, approx $50 at PF, $40 at Warrny, $30 at Portland, **** all at Heywood. Accomm will be cheap too. So biggest expense will be the hire car / minibus to get you boys (and girl(s)) here....

    Travel time as below....
    Melb to Port via Warr.jpg

I need to get a gauge pretty early on so I can see if this is worthwhile running, otherwise I'll need time to arrange Melbourne courses instead.

You are funny husband of sarahhack. Mr.bluu is #grossfav not my pick for gross winner.

Depending on form I may back the old retiree from Mackay.

Ha. The old retiree is only a 7-1 chance to make the starting line.

OK, so I think we can pretty much confirm this will be happening...

    Accomm here:
Portland Bay Lodge - $40 per night

    Golf here:
    Thursday - Heywood Golf Club - $35
Friday & UCW - Port Fairy Golf Links - $65
    Saturday - Portland Golf Club - $45
    Sunday - Warrnambool Golf Club - $55
    Monday - Cobden Golf Club - $35

Grand total of $395 for golf and accomm. These rates may get a little cheaper as I speak to the clubs and find out group rates etc.

There have been some calls from people to play Port Fairy twice, but I think for anyone wanting to do that they can actually do it on the Sunday afternoon after Warrnambool GC as it's not a hard walk.

I'll create a new post shortly, but unless anyone has violent objections, I think we have our rota set.

Cobden has their annual 'Week of Golf' in late February.

    Annual Week Of Golf Tournament
The much loved 'Week Of Golf' takes place at the end February each year and offers great prizes on each day over the event.
Whilst it is dubbed the 'Week of Golf' the tournament actually runs over 9 consecutive days and golfers travel from near and far to be a part of this time honoured tournament.

Had a chance to play a few holes at Warrnambool on Tuesday evening, was very windy but liked the layout of the few holes I played. This and Port Fairy will sort the field out if the wind is up.Stopped for 9 holes at Camperdown on the way home last night, not much to talk of.Hilly, narrow and boring

Wind shouldn't be too bad for both in Feb, but enough to keep things interesting.

Camperdown? Jesus, how did you get yourself out of the coma it puts you in?

Whilst the prevailing wind at Port Fairy is usually west / south west, in the summer months it tends to blow in all directions, and you will most likely encounter an east or south easterly.

The course currently is in the best condition I have seen it. It will dry out over summer and should be nice and bouncy come Feb.
