    Then in no order:

    2. PGF chief with proforce gold 75. I smashed this ugly duckling of a driver for a long time.

    3. Titleist 975J proforce XL - noticed a big jump in distance over the maxfli titanium driver I had at the time

    4. Adams 9016D 7.5 with graph PM702 proto. My first driver i was 'fit' for as it was from a LD member on here at Milperra driving range off ball flight alone. Cost me a lot! Smashed it for ages until the shaft broke. Still have the head somewhere I think.

    5. Tony Penna persimmon driver. My first bought driver from a driving range where a Bunnings is now. I still love hitting that club!
So very similar to my list, I suppose unsurprisingly.

    1. TM 2007 V1 Burner TP (tour issue)
    2. Adam 9015D
    3. Titleist 975J
    4. TMTBTPWB (TaylorMade Tour Burner Tour Preferred Whiteboard)
    5. Mizuno MX500

I still have most of these :/

Does the 2016 m2 have a cult following?

Like aome above, not a top 5 but a top three and drivers which I don't think would win any popularity contests but they worked for me.

    1. Wilson Deep Red 305cc Fat Shaft. I can't recall the loft I think it was 9.5 degrees. Not the longest driver I have ever played but certainly one of the straightest. My first titanium driver after cracking the head of my Callaway Steelhead;

    2. Cleveland Launcher 400cc with a Grafalloy Blue shaft and 9 degrees (I think). Still one of the best drivers I have owned. For me a good combination of distance and control when I was playing regularly. I foolishly 'upgraded' to the Cleveland Hibore thinking I would get even more distance but I regretted it. Not sure why but I still have the Hibore head sitting in a cupboard in the garage;

    3. Nickent 4DX Evolver with a variety of shafts. My first ever adjustable driver and one I still put in the bag from time to time when my swing goes AWOL. I'm in the process of selling it to Larrylong, I assume as a backup for his in case something happens.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

The old Titleist 975 in either D or J format is making a few of the lists.

At the time I believe it was the most used on tour, this was before TM came out with the awesome R510-580 range

    1. TM 300 Tour (aka The Holy Grail) with Grafalloy Tour shaft. One of my mates still has it after I moved it on.

    2. TM R9 SuperTri TP with an Oban Devotion shaft, it just worked for me.

    3. Ping Rapture V2 with Diamana Blueboard

I can't just name 5 so will mention bulk standouts and bold longer term gamers with the top 5 underlined.

Daiwa Advisor (i think) with whisker shaft - first ever driver i bought. The whisker shaft from memory was quite light and super high tech.

Taylormade System 2 Midsize Driver - Played this for quite some time. Quite forgiving for the time and long. Great driver in its day.

Taylormade Burner Bubble - Monster hype on this shaft.

Taylormade R580XD - Another good TM driver.

Goldwin ADVP XL - These sticks were no joke. From memory they had a super light grip and shaft with a heavier type head. The head from memory was milled from a single block of aluminium. I killed this thing, it was truly great at the time. I think i still have a Goldwin 3 wood about and the fairways were great as well.

Ping Tisi Tec - The ball just flew off the face. Pretty sure i still have this in a cupboard or shed.

Adams GT 363 - Top driver by Adams. Gamed this for some time and it was very good.

Titleist 983k - I found this driver to be immense. Amazing feel and great results.

Taylormade 2007 Burner TP Version 1 - Matt has my old 8.5* and i sold two 9.5's in here. Great driver.

Taylormade Superquad 282 - Great driver. Sensational feel and liveliness. One of the greats.

Taylomade R11 Dot - Yet another ATG driver from TM.

Ping Anser - Great driver and i could still game it if i had to. The stock Akina 70 was the shizzle.

Taylormade 2008 Burner TP 9* tour issue - Top stick and gamed long term with a F7M2.

Adams 9015D - The GOAT i think. I had about three of these but the gamer was almost always the one with the Blueboard 73. Long time gamer and enjoyed my best driving ever with it.

Taylormade 2009 Burner TP - I actually liked this one even more than the 2007. Big super forgiving head that still spun pretty low and got it out there. Gamed it for ages.

Ping G30 LST - Very good driver with terrible feel and sound. Gamed for some time.

Ping G LS - Can't get it out of the bag. The 125msi is maybe the best shaft i have used and it continues to beat all comers.

Taylormade M2 - One of the greats. Got rid of my old 9.5* too early ages back and just last week nabbed a dirt cheap tour issue head. First hit today with a 6M3 and it is going to put pressure on the G. Surprising low spin and penetration given what model it is. One of the greats and for me better than the all the other M's i have hit by a good margin.

I too rated the Burner Bubble. It should actually be on my list ahead of the Firesole. I never actually owned a Firesole, I just loved my mates.

The 07 Burner was owned in multiple lofts. I still have a head in the shed.

I am one of the rare guys that liked the 2009 better. No doubt the 2007 is a legend and i am glad Matt is ridiculously happy with the oh so rare 8.5* i sold him.
