Assuming Kuch paid him the agreed amount, I actually respect that Kuch has stood his ground on this despite the public pressure.

Reading some stuff today, it seems like some of these deals can be pretty much handshake and can seem a bit vague. As yoss says, the issue is we don't know what was said about any extra over the 3k. If he said 2k tops, then the caddie is out of line. Even if that was the agreement, it still kinda doesn't look super great when you win 1.2+mill. What may not be much more than a drop in the oven to him could be semi life changing for the caddies family. Heck, the good publicity from paying him much more would have been with it.

    Completely agree.

Tough to make a concrete judgment when you don’t know the full story (and probably never will).

Based on responses on here and Golfwrx, it's actually pretty easy.

It's no coincidence that Kuch rhymes with douche

He didn't stand his ground, his agent offered more to try and change the perception.

Kuchar lowballed the Toucan, depends on how you roll in life whether you think that's the play.

Just read the Kuchar quote “For a guy who makes $200 a day, a $5,000 week is a really big week,”

What a wanker of a comment. I'm 100% on Mexico's side after reading that.

The more relevant views are those of current and former pros, not the likes of us and fellow keyboard warriors on wrx etc. They get it and it looks pretty unanimously anti-Kuch on this one.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

I won’t make judgments about you and “how you roll in your life”.To me, it doesn’t matter about the nationality and other BS. If two people had an agreement and that was met, it’s end of story. If the agreement has not been met, then there’s a problem.

Personally, and this is only my opinion, but I think Kuchar could have offered more to the caddy than what was agreed upon. Whether or not it was agreed to at the start of the week (Kuch probably didn't think he'd win) I think he could have paid the man more. I mean he won $1.3m and hadn't captured a trophy in 4 years. For me, it just shows the type of character he is, and how he treats people. I can without a doubt say that I would have given a much bigger bonus to a caddie if i'd won that amount of money, on top of the $45m plus i'd already won in my career. I don't think it's about right or wrong, but more-so about character, and this certainly doesn't shine a good light on Kuchar.

How much would you have given him?

Don't forget to factor in the 34% that goes directly to the Mexican government as tax.

If he paid what was agreed or more.I have no business judging his character because I have no idea what he does behind the scene that nobody knows about. Just like I don’t have any business judging the character of the caddie who refused the extra $15k and chose to take the matter public.

I would have given him probably 5% of what I'd won. At the end of the day, that winners cheque doesn't change my life, but it certainly changes his. I'd just be stoked that I'd won again, so would be happy to part with some money to a guy that helped me win (in one way or another). I mean Kuch did call him his "lucky charm" after the event so he obviously did a good job.

He won't be caddying for any professionals anymore. Shot himself in the foot taking this so publicly.

It actually wasn't the caddie that took this publicly, it was another tour pro Tom Gillis that did. The first we heard from "El Tucan" was this week when Bamburger sought him out for comment.

Either way. Doubt we'll see him caddying again.

    Who would want this headache?
