Default 2019: How many different courses have you played this year?

    1. Corinda Public Golf Course (9 Holes)
    2. Yarrambat Park Golf Course* (Front Nine Only)
    3. Toowoomba City Golf Club
    4. Lakeside Country Club* (9 Holes)
    5. Jindalee Golf Club (9 Holes)
    6. Eustondale Golf Club* (9 Holes)
    7. Corinda Pitch 'n Putt
    8. Wolston Park Golf Club
    9. McLeod Golf Club
    10. Gailes Golf Club
    11. Noosa Valley Country Club* (9 Holes)
    12. Rockhampton Golf Club*
    13. Capricorn Championship Course*
    14. Emu Park*
    15. Bulimba Par 3* (9 Holes)
    16. Royal Queensland Golf Club*
    17. Victoria Park Golf Complex*
    18. North Stradbroke Island Golf Club* (9 Holes)
    19. Sandy Gallop GC*

I played at Sandy Gallop last month, and I was prepared for the worst, as I have never heard good things. It wasn't too bad, however the first nine had several, what I call "layered" dog legs, someone else here referred to it as spooning, and they mostly had forced layups to the corner. On the inside of this layer was a par 4 with a 6I layup to the corner, it was another longer dogleg par 4 on the outside of that, then a par 5 dogleg around that, which had internal OOB for going onto the inside par 4, with a par 4/par 3 combination dog legging around that par 5. It was an annoying stretch of holes.
    Sandy_Gallop.jpg

I strongly considered playing a round of golf while I was here in Austria, but it would have been an expensive and difficult venture, because of the logistics of getting there and getting clubs. I instead spent money on a couple of trips to other countries and beer.

A couple of days down in Sydney adds 2 new unplayed courses to the list. Pennant Hills was very different to what I expected. Not a bad course, but probably didn't live up to the hype it had. Elanora on the other hand was an absolute peach, and far surpassed my expectations. It has knocked out my psuedo-home track to make my yearly top 5.

Year to date top 5; that could be another thread (for people to just list courses and not make any comment).

How was Tobacco Road Blakey? There's a big feature on the course and Mike Stranz in the forthcoming Volume 10 of The Golfer's Journal. Can't wait to read it. The place looks unbelievably good. Such a shame that we lost Mike Stranz so young.

I think i described it succinctly a page ago .

So think about it this way, I bought a Tobacco Rd shirt, but I didnt buy a Pinehurst No 2 Shirt.

On the surface Tobacco Road seems like a tricked up Mickey Mouse Disney mini golf course. But after playing it and looking over how the holes set up and layout it actually is quite a brilliant designand enjoyable to play. it's not penal at all.
If I go back there it will be a must play for me and also Tot Hill Farm his other course in the area.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
