Every time I see Prague, I can't help but recall:

"None of us liked it," winger Luke Rooney told 2UE yesterday. "There was nothing to do. There were hardly any pubs, no TABs. I'd rather be in Penrith."

No pubs? The Czechs drink the most per capita of anyone in the world, and that's partially because beer is cheaper than bottled water or soft drink.

IanO, do you reckon I could get away with a golf round in Austria in late October? I'd like to, but I might be pushing it with the weather at that stage.

    Update for my list.

    1. Corinda Public Golf Course (9 Holes)

    2. Yarrambat Park Golf Course* (Front Nine Only)
    3. Toowoomba City Golf Club
    4. Lakeside Country Club* (9 Holes)
    5. Jindalee Golf Club (9 Holes)
    6. Eustondale Golf Club* (9 Holes)
    7. Corinda Pitch 'n Putt
    8. Wolston Park Golf Club
    9. McLeod Golf Club
    10. Gailes Golf Club

Gailes still has lots of trees that are hard to get away from. The course is in good nick, and always provides a challenge as can be punishing off the fairways, or if you miss the greens. They also still don't like those of us that have the handicap maintenance memberships even when it is their own; despite being a cheap member of Gailes they hit me up for $53 for a Saturday comp round, while it would have been $43 for a normal visitor.

Next course: Not Gailes on a Saturday. Maybe Brisbane River/Karana Downs on a Saturday, or I'm open to somewhere on Sunday.

There is only one group of people dumber than that which came up with this scheme.

Where's my incentive to actually play at their course? Strange decision.

Default 2019: How many different courses have you played this year?

    1. Corinda Public Golf Course (9 Holes)
    2. Yarrambat Park Golf Course* (Front Nine Only)
    3. Toowoomba City Golf Club
    4. Lakeside Country Club* (9 Holes)
    5. Jindalee Golf Club (9 Holes)
    6. Eustondale Golf Club* (9 Holes)
    7. Corinda Pitch 'n Putt
    8. Wolston Park Golf Club
    9. McLeod Golf Club
    10. Gailes Golf Club
    11. Noosa Valley Country Club* (9 Holes)

The owner may as well call it Royal Noosa, since he thinks it is good enough to impose restrictions on playing, such as not being allowed to carry. I'll post more about the course next week.

It was a sensational course, bloody steep in places, plus the wind. Some interesting tee shots

It was tempting to try and squeeze in another course while in the Rocky area, but a little bit of relaxation was required. Capricorn was the pick of the courses, and it would be great if the second course ever re-opened.

That was an experience. I think I am too much of a golf snob to deal with groups of eight and very small shitty greens.

RQ was a delight to play. I have been there, but I'm counting it as new, since it was ages ago, and the course has changed since then.

I enjoyed the fact that I had decisions to make around the course, and play different sorts of shots around the greens than what I'm used to.

Another one that I am counting as new overall, since I haven't played it since it used to be a member's course. Since then, they have butchered it to put in a driving range complex, bypass road, and busway, so it has changed quite a bit.

It is quite Mickey Mouse now, with no long par 4s; the longest was about 310m, so it was wedges into greens a lot. The finish was bad too with three consecutive par threes with lengths of 99m, 80m, 115m. The par is 65, scratch rating is 61, and slope is 102.

The condition was really good though, and teeing off at a little after 6a, I got around in 2h40m with a cost of $17 on Tuesdays.

4th, Par 4, 245m. Waste of a dam, when it isn't really in play. It seemed too risky for a driver here.

8th, Par 4, 319m. Those trees are a bit intrusive on a dogleg left. That's the driving range to the right.

Bullshit club, I left their pull bugger at the tee and walked with my bag. The way it is advertised makes it sound like some flash joint, but it is an ordinary nine hole course in the middle of no where.

A little windy and wet at lost farm.

Sunny and mostly calm at dunes, only moderate wind for the back 9.

I have gone most years around March/April when you have the best odds for the weather, but have been keen to get down there around this time of the year to see what it is like.
