    2019 Edition.

    Rules below:

    • For those unfamiliar, an eclectic score is your best gross score on each hole of your course over a given period of time.

    • This Eclectic runs from 1 January to 31 December.

    • Scores from any official club competition round (stroke, par, stableford) played during the dates above are permitted (no social rounds).

    • To enter, you need to record the following:
    - Course
    - Length/ Index/ Pars of each hole
    - Your gross scores for those holes
    • As you play rounds during the year and improve on those gross scores, you need to post your improvements.

You can get a copy of my pre-formatted Google Sheets Eclectic here. All you need to do is change the Course Name and Length, Par & Index for each hole (Google account required).

A couple of birds over the last few days, but only today's ferret bird on 15 has any effect...

Chip-in on 7 yesterday means that a bird on the 14th is the only room left for any improvement (barring any eagles).

Picked up a birdie on 6 yesterday, not many opportunities for improvement now!

Picked up 18 recently, and 14 today. Lipped out on 12 today as well which was a massive shame.

Thats an impressive eclectic County, so many birdies. But did you write down one of Bobs scores on the 4th?

@Courty, I'm surprised by only 1 birdie on 16 but 5 on 9 and 3. 1.4 birdies per round is good though. What's your double or worse rate for comparison?

You can see by 'My Index' that I'm not having any trouble scoring on 16, but IMO making birdies is tough with the state of the putting surface.
I've added a 'Blowout Count' for doubles or worse... just for you.

Has the 16th green got worse? And thanks for the Blowout count. I'm impressed by your birdie to blowout ration on the 1st (300%), I just checked and in 47 recorded rounds at Cairns my rate was 22%....

Daves, interesting how far the actual index differs from your own on 3 and 17, have you done anything recently to alter the way you play those holes?

The 3rd and the 17th Greens (along with the 16th) were rebuilt a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the then Super used too coarse a sand and they have packed down like road base. This makes it very hard to play a golf shot into them and get the ball to stay on the green. They have become nemesis holes for a lot of members. The 16th green is also very hard, but it is such a big green it does offer a bit more play-ability.

Ironically, I finally birdied 17 yesterday. I was discussing the shot in with my playing partner and mentioned you had to be so precise. There is a big swale through the middle of the green that feeds everything into a false side on the left. Miss right (my usual miss!), even a fraction, and it is bunker(s) or worse lateral hazard. I hit my shot to 3 feet and I reckon I had a target of less than 10m2 to hit to get anywhere near the flag. I was playing PW in so it isn't a long hole at all, but unless you hit it 250m+ you have to play a full shot in, there isn't a run up option that will stay on the green.

2020 version? I'm playing my first (home course) round this Saturday, and plan on keeping more detailed stats this year that would suit this.
