Tagman, nice round. Your score counterbalances the negative score of the 2 visitors

Par comp this morning in typical FNQ summer conditions... raining, heavy track, preferred lies, bunkers GUR.

I finished with 76 (+1), which is a solid score in itself, but given I was +3 with 3 to play it was a disappointing way to end.

    3 rounds this week:
Wed - Par at Maroochy River with Bushy. Nothing amazing here, a couple of pluses amongst 7 minuses. Drove pretty well, made a few errors from centre fairway. -5 overall

Fri - Stab at Maryborough. Started well, +1 off the stick through 5. From there the wheels fell off, wiped 6, 1 pointer on 8, and wiped 9 for 15pts. Started back 9 well, +1 off the stick after 4, again the wheels fell off for 17 points. 15/17 32.

Sat - Stab at Bundaberg. As per Wednesday, started well, then wiped 6,7 with poor shots from centre of the fairway. Turned with 14. Then played steady steady through the back 9, and wiped 18 - once again from the center of the fairway.

Been working on the wide open clubface at the top of the swing, and when i get it right I hit it as good as I ever have. When I get it wrong it's block/fade central (and the cause of most of my centre fairway wipes). Having said that my driving is the best it has been in 2 years, so nice to have that back.

These are my last two competition rounds at Northern down here in Melbourne. I finally feel like I've turned a corner with my game after struggling for the last 4 or 5 months. Granted I haven't been playing anywhere near as much given I've just moved down and wasn't settled anywhere, but it's nice to feel like I'm hitting the ball well again. Still plenty to improve on, but it's a good start.

    hot day yesterday....
my phone alarm announced it was 26C at 5am, so I sort of guess it was going to be a long day.
Lucky i managed to book a buggy for the Melville Glades summer cup.... i pitty the walkers cause it was just brain boiling hot....

My downfall for the day was the putting.... green seems faster than I am used to, so wasn't attacking the hole directly, which lead to a lot of last minute off cup turn misses.... yeah, so not feeling it....
driving was pretty good with missing the FW only on the first 2 holes. Irons were sort of ok...

shot gun start at 730 and didnt finish till 1230; so cracked open after 9 holes.... heat, dehydration and lack of food plus beer = zero care factor after that... it was a slow hot day....

Finished the day at 29 points.

A lady did get 50 points on the day with 77 gross and a near Hole in one after hitting the flag... she had a good day

Cold topped my drive on 17 barely got it off the tee bed downhill run got me a few metres more , belted a 3 wood with zero care factor, around dogleg and onto fringe , 2 putts par , 4 for 3

Olinda this morning. Not sure what I was doing, but the bubble has certainly burst after 9 good rounds.26 points with a care factor of zip.I had no feel for the club, couldn't see a shot shape in my pre shot routine,my wedge play from inside 100m was woeful.I thinned 3 times over the green from inside 80m.
    1x birdie
    4x wipes
2 x lost balls, both in play and in areas that they shouldn't get lost which cost me 2 wipes

A totally honest 36 points for me today.

It was an opportunity lost though. I hit a number of great shots early and kept missing the 10 footers for birdie. Then had a putting purple patch and holed three good ones in a row, only to give it all back over the last four holes.

My three one-pointers in the last four has me a bit worried about being labelled with an illegitimate score. It's my best score for many months, so I hope Ferret's committee didn't have a spy checking up on me.

It's been absolutely flogging rain here for the past few days. 178mm at the club yesterday, another 100mm so far today and no sign of letting up for at least a few days. Some of the BOM modelling has forecast up to a metre of rain over the long weekend.

But still, Bushy & I got a round in this morning.

Sadly the Australia Day shotgun start comp was cancelled (more like boycotted), so we did our own thing. I went on to shoot 78/72 (36pts) and win our head-to-head match.

I'm a February baby so must have been born in these conditions. Today was my 5th round for the year (all in 'moist' conditions) and I am yet to shoot worse than 79.

If we get a couple of hundred millimetres of rain during the trip, I'm a shoe-in to win this thing.
